Acrolein (ACR) present in vivo and in vitro can damage proteins and DNA, linking it to various chronic diseases. In this paper, ergothioneine (EGT), abundant in edible mushrooms, has been studied for its ability to trap ACR and its reaction pathway with ACR at high temperatures using ultraperformance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). We synthesized the adducts (EGT-ACR-1 and EGT-ACR-2), elucidating their structure and reaction site through HRMS and nuclear magnetic resonance.

Background: It is unknown whether women with pregnancy-onset asthma are predisposed to worse pregnancy outcomes compared with women with pre-pregnancy asthma.
Objective: To explore whether pregnancy-onset asthma leads to worse perinatal outcomes compared with pre-pregnancy asthma.
Methods: Women who were discharged with a diagnosis of asthma and gave birth to a live singleton were included in this retrospective cohort analysis.
Background: Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease is an exciting field of study, with a growing number of causal genes and an expanding phenotypic spectrum. The microrchidia family CW-type zinc finger 2 gene (MORC2) was newly identified as a causative gene of CMT2Z in 2016. We aimed to describe the phenotypic-genetic spectrum of MORC2-related diseases in the Chinese population.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe electron-blocking layer (EBL) is important to balance the charge carrier transfer and achieve highly efficient quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs). Here, we report the utilization of a soluble tert-butyldimethylsilyl chloride-modified poly( p-phenylene benzobisoxazole) (TBS-PBO) as an EBL for simultaneous good charge carrier transfer balance while maintaining a high current density. We show that the versatile TBS-PBO blocks excess electron injection into the quantum dots (QDs), thus leading to better charge carrier transfer balance.

A new compound with electride characteristics, Li@calix[4]pyrrole, is designed in theory. The Li atom in Li@calix[4]pyrrole is ionized to form a cation and an excess electron anion. Its structure with C(4v) symmetry resembles a cup-like shape.
