Soil arsenic (As) contamination poses a significant threat to food security and human health. Diatomaceous earth (DE) as a representative exogenous mineral silicon can effectively regulate the migration and transformation of As in the soil-rice system. However, the mechanisms underlying the effects of DE application on As uptake, translocation, and stress regulation in rice remain unclear.

This paper presents a comprehensive systematic review of generative models (GANs, VAEs, DMs, and LLMs) used to synthesize various medical data types, including imaging (dermoscopic, mammographic, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and X-ray), text, time-series, and tabular data (EHR). Unlike previous narrowly focused reviews, our study encompasses a broad array of medical data modalities and explores various generative models. Our aim is to offer insights into their current and future applications in medical research, particularly in the context of synthesis applications, generation techniques, and evaluation methods, as well as providing a GitHub repository as a dynamic resource for ongoing collaboration and innovation.

PERC solar cell technology, which emerged in the 1980s, has garnered a substantial portion of the PV market over the past decade. However, the main factors limiting their further efficiency advancements and wider commercialization lie in metal contact recombination and the passivation properties of the functional layers. Despite heterojunction cells demonstrating remarkable efficiency, challenges persist in terms of cost reduction and stability enhancement.

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage caused by accidents or diseases resulting from traumatic brain injury, inflammation, tumor erosion and surgery can lead to many complications. In this study, a multifunctional composite double-layer hydrogel was designed by simulating the structure of native dura mater, which was composed of polyacrylic acid (PAA), polyethyleneimine (PEI), sodium alginate (SA), β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) and edaravone (Ed). The PAA/PEI layer had strong wet adhesion characteristics, while the PEI/SA@β-CD/Ed layer exhibited significant antioxidant, drug release and biocompatibility properties.

Macrophage-mediated acute inflammation is crucial for pathogen clearance and tissue repair, yet the underlying molecular mechanisms remain inadequately understood. The present study focused on the dynamic profiles of the proteome and phosphoproteome of macrophages exposed to lipopolysaccharide within 1 h. Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) identified significantly enriched pathways in fatty acid metabolism and translation during the early inflammatory phase.

The explosive growth of mobile data traffic and the demands of 6 G networks for ultra-high data rates and low latency necessitate advanced infrastructure solutions. One promising approach is the implementation of radio-over-fiber (RoF)-based distributed antenna systems (DAS), which can efficiently transmit radio frequency signals over optical fiber, especially in dense indoor environments. However, analog RoF systems face challenges, including noise, nonlinearities, and power fading caused by chromatic dispersion.

SUPPRESSOR OF MAX2 1 (SMAX1) and SMAX1-LIKE (SMXL) proteins comprise a family of plant growth regulators that includes downstream targets of the karrikin (KAR)/KAI2 ligand (KL) and strigolactone (SL) signaling pathways. Following the perception of KAR/KL or SL signals by α/β hydrolases, some types of SMXL proteins are polyubiquitinated by an E3 ubiquitin ligase complex containing the F-box protein MORE AXILLARY GROWTH2 (MAX2)/DWARF3 (D3), and proteolyzed. Because SMXL proteins interact with TOPLESS (TPL) and TPL-related (TPR) transcriptional corepressors, SMXL degradation initiates changes in gene expression.

As natural furocoumarins, psoralen and its isomer isopsoralen are widely distributed in various fruits including L., vegetables including celery, and medicinal herbs including L. Although psoralen and isopsoralen have been used as dietary supplements because of their bioactivities such as antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties; however, the potential mechanisms underlying the antioxidant activities of these two furocoumarins still need to be explored.

Background: Frailty is a geriatric syndrome of significant public health concern that causes vulnerability to physiologic stressors and an increased risk of mortality and hospitalizations. Dietary intake and quality are contributing factors to the development of frailty. The Mediterranean diet is known to be one of the healthiest eating patterns with promising health impacts for prevention.

The choices of matrices and protocols for sample deposition are critical factors, which impact each other in the matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry imaging (MSI). Previous reports on MALDI MS matrices have only compared their performances in terms of their MS signal intensities and provided optical microphotos or MALDI MS images of sample spots but typically lacked quantitative evaluation. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop a multivariate model to evaluate the performance of different combinations of matrices and sample protocols.

In an effort to mitigate or reverse the pathological progression of early-stage osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH), this study employed a promising strategy that involves the sustained delivery of osteogenic factors to augment core decompression, facilitated by the use of composite hydrogels. Specifically, a hydrogel was synthesized by blending chitosan, Pluronic F-127, and tripolyphosphate, utilizing both ionic bonding and copolymer micelle cross-linking techniques. This hydrogel demonstrated exceptional biocompatibility, temperature responsiveness, pH-dependent biodegradation, and controlled release properties.

Objectives: To analyze the global disease burden of cervical cancer and the association between screening coverage and the quality of disease management.

Methods: The data of global burden of cervical cancer 2021 and the data of cervical cancer screening 2019 were obtained from IHME Global Burden of Disease (GBD) and the WHO Global Health Observatory (GHO), respectively. The age-standardized disease burden index was calculated, the Quality of Disease Management Index (QCI) was determined with principal component analysis, the correlation between QCI and cervical cancer screening coverage was examined with linear regression analysis by regions and populations.

The data of 44 scalp acupuncture schools are collected to analyze their commonalities in theoretical foundations, needling sites, techniques, and indications. The integration of these characteristics into an optimized, unified scalp acupuncture protocol has become an inevitable trend. The paper discusses the potential for a unified scalp acupuncture protocol from aspects such as theoretical unification, the relationships between point areas, lines, and sites, and needle numbers.

Peptide-based hydrogels form a kind of promising material broadly used in biomedicine and biotechnology. However, the correlation between their hydrogen bonding dynamics and mechanical properties remains uncertain. In this study, we found that the adoption of β-sheet and α-helix secondary structures by ECF-5 and GFF-5 peptides, respectively, could further form fiber networks to immobilize water molecules into hydrogels.
