Antimicrobial resistance is a major global threat. In an attempt to discover new compounds with improved efficiency and to overcome drug resistance, a library of 3960 compounds was designed as conformationally rigid analogues of oxiconazole with 2H-chroman-4-one, azole and substituted phenyl fragments. A series of iron (Fe) and zinc (Zn) plant nanonutrients in citrate form were prepared by an eco-friendly solid-state grinding of the respective nitrates and citric acid. Ball-milling of the as-prepared Fe and Zn citrates resulted in nanosize particles. The photocatalytic degradation of amoxicillin (AMX) by titanium dioxide nanoparticles loaded on graphene oxide (GO/TiO) was evaluated under UV light. Experimental results showed that key parameters such as initial pH, GO/TiO dosage, UV intensity, and initial AMX concentration had a significant effect on AMX degradation. Compared to the photolysis and adsorption processes, the AMX degradation efficiency was obtained to be more than 99% at conditions including pH of 6, the GO/TiO dosage of 0.

A new series of eco-friendly cross linked guar gum-g-poly(acrylate) porous superabsorbent hydrogels was prepared by in situ grafting polymerization and cross-linking on to a natural guar gum employing N,N-methylene bis acrylamide as cross linker. Morphological and structural characterization of the prepared hydrogels (SPHs) done by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and solid state C(13) NMR spectroscopy confirmed formation of porous grafted and crosslinked hydrogel structure. Increase in cross linker concentration in the feed mass exhibited decrease in porosity and increase in density of the hydrogels.

We present the first analysis of the human proteome with regard to interactions between proteins. We also compare the human interactome with the available interaction datasets from yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), worm (Caenorhabditis elegans) and fly (Drosophila melanogaster). Of >70,000 binary interactions, only 42 were common to human, worm and fly, and only 16 were common to all four datasets.

Human Protein Reference Database (HPRD) is an object database that integrates a wealth of information relevant to the function of human proteins in health and disease. Data pertaining to thousands of protein-protein interactions, posttranslational modifications, enzyme/substrate relationships, disease associations, tissue expression, and subcellular localization were extracted from the literature for a nonredundant set of 2750 human proteins. Almost all the information was obtained manually by biologists who read and interpreted >300,000 published articles during the annotation process.
