Background: Large vessel vasculitis is a rare disorder usually occurring in the context of the autoimmune conditions of giant cell arteritis and Takayasu's arteritis. Case reports have described large vessel vasculitis occurring in individuals with myelodysplastic syndrome, preceding transformation to acute myeloid leukemia.
Case Presentation: A 56-year-old Afghanistan-born woman presented with fever, a tender left carotid artery, and raised inflammatory markers.
Extractable nuclear antigen (ENA) antibody testing is often requested in patients with suspected connective tissue diseases. Most laboratories in Australia use a two step process involving a high sensitivity screening assay followed by a high specificity confirmation test. Multiplexing technology with Addressable Laser Bead Immunoassay (e.

One-day-old chickens were treated with varying levels of triiodothyronine (T3) added to the diet. At 28 days of age, the IL-2-like activity in the splenocyte culture supernatants were assessed. The lowest dose of T3 (0.

These MAbs identified three isolates adapted to grow in the Marek's disease chicken cell line MSB1 (Cux-1, GA-1, and Conn-B) and the chicken-propagated CIA-1 isolate. All MAbs stained MSB1 in the same way with mostly perinuclear staining, although larger nuclear inclusions and cytoplasmic staining were also detected.

All isolates induced thymus atrophy, bone-marrow aplasia, and low hematocrit values when inoculated into 1-day-old susceptible chicks. The CIAV isolates were resistant to treatment with chloroform and were able to pass through 50-nm-pore-size filters.
