Objective: Cancer and pregnancy are likely increasing; however, updated estimates are needed to optimally address the unique needs of this patient population. The study aims to estimate the prevalence of cancer and cancer survivorship at delivery, to test the change in odds of cancer and cancer survivorship at delivery over the 10-year period, and to compare medical conditions, serious events, and obstetric complications between pregnancies with and without cancer at delivery.
Study Design: We conducted a retrospective analysis of the National Inpatient Sample (NIS), the largest all-payer inpatient health database in the United States.

We conducted a multicenter, randomized, controlled trial comparing outcomes of patients with GNB BSIs who had blood culture testing with standard-of-care (SOC) culture and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) vs rapid organism identification (ID) and phenotypic AST using the Accelerate Pheno System (RAPID).
Methods: Patients with positive blood cultures with Gram stains showing GNB were randomized to SOC testing with antimicrobial stewardship (AS) review or RAPID with AS.
Lower respiratory tract infections, including hospital-acquired and ventilator-associated pneumonia, are common in hospitalized patient populations. Standard methods frequently fail to identify the infectious etiology due to the polymicrobial nature of respiratory specimens and the necessity of ordering specific tests to identify viral agents. The potential severity of these infections combined with a failure to clearly identify the causative pathogen results in administration of empirical antibiotic agents based on clinical presentation and other risk factors.

These morphological changes may put individuals with SCI at higher risk for developing other diseases such as various cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity and osteoporosis. Currently, there is no available rehabilitation intervention to rescue the muscles or restore muscle size in SCI individuals with lower motor neuron denervation.
