Comparison of impedance cardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for the evaluation of cardiac function in early-stage breast cancer patients.

Breast cancer treatment can negatively impact cardiac function in some breast cancer patients. Current methods (MUGA, echocardiography) used in clinical practice to detect abnormal cardiac changes as a result of treatment suffer from important limitations. Use of alternative techniques that would offer safe, inexpensive and non-invasive cardiac function assessment in this population would be highly advantageous.

Challenges faced in the management of complicated Boerhaave syndrome: a tertiary care center experience.

Spontaneous esophageal perforation is rare and is associated with high morbidity and mortality. A spectrum of various surgical modalities ranging from primary surgical repair to esophagectomy is available for its management. The optimal management of patients presenting late in a hemodynamically stable condition is not clearly defined in the literature.

Sinus barotrauma leading to extradural muco-pneumocephalus.

An amateur scuba (Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) diver experienced an acute frontal headache following a low-depth dive. After 12 hours of worsening and unremitting headache, CT and MRI imaging were performed; these revealed gas and mucous in the frontal sinus and extradural space. This appears to be the first case of MRI-documented barotrauma of the frontal and ethmoidal sinuses resulting in extradural pneumo- and muco-cephalus.
