Superficial CD34-positive fibroblastic tumor (SPFT) is an extremely rare neoplasm of borderline (intermediate) category. To the best of our knowledge, less than 40 cases have been reported in the English literature. It is imperative to understand and emphasize its cytological features as fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is still considered a first line of investigation in such cases in many countries including India.

Evaluating the Emergency Surgery Score (ESS) in Predicting Postoperative Outcomes Following Emergency Laparotomy: Insights From an Indian Tertiary Center.

Aims And Objectives:  To determine the predictive value of Emergency Surgery Score (ESS) with regard to mortality and morbidity rates of patients undergoing emergency laparotomy.

Method: The ESS ranging from 0 to 29 is an extensive risk calculator based on 22 variables including important parameters like demographics, preoperative treatment, comorbidities, and laboratory values. Twenty patients who underwent emergency laparotomy were preoperatively assessed and ESS was calculated for each.

Apert syndrome is a rare acrocephalosyndactyly (craniosynostosis) syndrome characterized by craniofacial dysmorphism and syndactyly of the hands and feet. It is caused by FGFR2 mutations and inherited in an autosomal dominant manner. This article describes a novel clinical variant of Apert syndrome having bilateral symmetrical tripod-shaped syndactyly in hands with milder craniofacial features in a sporadic case, along with a mutation in the fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 ( ) gene.

Nanocomposites with Three-Dimensional Architecture and Impact on Photovoltaic Effect.

We demonstrate the synthesis of self-assembled three-dimensional nanocomposite thin films consisting of NiO nanocolumns in an layered Aurivillius phase matrix. The structures were grown on single-crystal SrTiO substrates via pulsed laser deposition (PLD) with single ceramic (PbTiO)(BiNiNbO) targets. The nanocolumns, which are about 10 nm in diameter each, extend over the entire film thickness of up to 225 nm.

Predicting disease progression and managing disease symptoms is even more challenging in cancer patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Cancer therapies, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy, often suppress the immune system, rendering cancer patients more susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection and the development of severe complications.

Pre-sternal thyroid swellings: a case of rare aberrant site recurrence and review of literature.

Background: Thyroid swellings enlarge caudally into the mediastinum behind the sternum. Pre-sternal swelling of thyroid origin is very rare. We present our case of pre-sternal thyroid swelling which was albeit a surprisingly rare site of papillary thyroid carcinoma recurrence and review of pre-sternal thyroid swellings reported till date.

This study demonstrates the preparation and functioning of an electrochemical microfluidic biochip for the detection of OA.

The distribution and lifetime of powerful radio galaxies as a function of environment and redshift.

Correlations between jet power and active time for z < 0.1 high excitation and low excitation radio galaxies are explored as well as evidence in favor of a specific, non-random distribution for these objects including mid-infrared emitting radio galaxies as a function of environment and redshift. In addition, so-called weak line radio galaxies with FRII jet morphology have been identified as a class of active galaxies in the process of shutting down.

Malrotation of the Gut in Adults: An Often Forgotten Entity.

Malrotation of the gut is a common paediatric condition that usually presents in the first month of life. However, presentation in adults is rare, and as a diagnostic dilemma quite often surprises the surgeon intraoperatively. GLI3 mutations in syndromic and non-syndromic polydactyly in two Indian families.

The GLI3 protein is a zinc finger transcription factor, expressed early in development. The GLI3 gene exhibits allelic heterogeneity as mutations in this gene are associated with several developmental syndromic and non-syndromic polydactyly. The present study reports two cases: first, a familial case of Greig Cephalopolysyndactyly Syndrome (GCPS); the second is a sporadic case with both postaxial polydactyly (PAP) type A and B.

Here, we are presenting the case of a 16-year-old girl who presented to the surgical emergency with vomiting, acute pain in the abdomen, and distension of abdomen. X-ray abdomen showed gas under the diaphragm and massively dilated gastric shadow.
