We report a rare case of confirmed early neurosyphilis with serofast state in HIV-negative patient, with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes mellitus. Syphilitic meningitis was diagnosed initially on serology and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis. The patient had persistently raised non-treponemal titres on serum with negative CSF venereal disease research laboratory result, following treatment during 3 years of follow-up.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFMS-related tyrosine kinase 3 ligand (FLT3L), encoded by FLT3LG, is a hematopoietic factor essential for the development of natural killer (NK) cells, B cells, and dendritic cells (DCs) in mice. We describe three humans homozygous for a loss-of-function FLT3LG variant with a history of various recurrent infections, including severe cutaneous warts. The patients' bone marrow (BM) was hypoplastic, with low levels of hematopoietic progenitors, particularly myeloid and B cell precursors.

By examining the indirect effects of executive functions (EF) and intelligence on the relationship between aerobic fitness and academic achievement, the present study provides novel insight about the cognitive mechanisms underlying this relationship. 218 children (8-10 years) completed the following assessments: (i) a VOmax test to assess aerobic fitness; (ii) four tasks tapping components of EF (i.

The Communal Coping Strategies Inventory for Competitive Team Sports (CCSICTS; Leprince et al., 2019) needed to be validated at the collective level and in its situational form to be used in broader sport situations.

Despite the advances made, the operationalization of performance in EF tasks remains rather heterogeneous, and the structure of EF as modeled by confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) is still a topic of debate (Karr et al., 2018).

The aim of this study was to investigate the level of specificity of the different regulation types described by Self-Determination Theory, and to evaluate its impact on the links with its antecedents and consequences, in an academic context. In line with the school-subject-specificity hypothesis, we postulated that autonomous motivation types (AM types) would be more specific to the situational level than controlled motivation types (CM types). Moreover, we hypothesized that AM types would be, at this level, more strongly associated with its antecedents and consequences than CM types.

It has led to the differentiation of "cool" Executive Functioning (EF) processes, such as cognitive flexibility, and "hot" EF processes, such as affective flexibility. But how does affective flexibility, the ability to switch between cognitive and affective information, vary as a function of age and sex? How does this construct relate to "cool" executive functioning and cognitive-emotion regulation processes? In this study, 266 participants, including 91 adolescents ( = 16.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the indirect effects of cardiorespiratory fitness on scholastic performance through executive functions. More precisely, we examined the contribution of the different domains of executive functions, and whether this relationship was specific to certain school topics.
Methods: Children 8-12 yr old completed nine cognitive tests and the multistage fitness test.

Objectives: Immunoglobulin A vasculitis (IgAV) is a small-vessel vasculitis most frequently benign in children while more severe in adults. We aimed to study the impact of age on presentation and outcome of adult IgAV.
Methods: We conducted a nationwide retrospective study including 260 IgAV patients.
Objective: IgA vasculitis (IgAV) frequently occurs during or after a mucosal infection; it also rarely occurs in patients with cancer. We hypothesized that cancer could impact the baseline characteristics and/or outcome of vasculitis. We aimed to describe the presentation of IgAV in patients with cancer (IgAV ca+) compared to patients without cancer.

The school-subject-specificity hypothesis postulates that the more autonomous the regulation is, the more specific to a school subject it is. 579 junior high school children were asked to complete a questionnaire assessing their motivation at the academic level as well as at the situational level (i.

Methods: Questionnaires about motivation and psychological needs on the context of physical education were completed by 319 middle high school students, up to 5 times within a 2-year period; they were equipped with an accelerometer and videotaped during a physical education lesson. PA-related indicators were computed considering the entire duration of the lessons (strategy 1), but also retaining only active times during the lesson (strategy 2).
Purpose: Like all surgical procedures, dorsal nasal flaps may be followed by both early and late complications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the surgical complications and cosmetic outcome of dorsal nasal flaps over a 7-year period in an academic dermatologic surgery unit.
Patients And Methods: Data were collected retrospectively for all patients undergoing dorsal nasal flap between 1 January 2006 and 31 December 2013.
Background: Programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) inhibitors (pembrolizumab and nivolumab) have been approved for the treatment of advanced melanoma. Over the past decades, patients older than 85 years represent an expanding group of patients in developed countries. In France, 25% of melanomas are diagnosed in patients older than 75 years.
