Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of treating patients with a cartilage defect of the knee with microfractures and porcine-derived collagen-augmented chondrogenesis technique (C-ACT).

Methods: One hundred participants were randomly assigned to the control group (n = 48, microfracture) or the investigational group (n = 52, C-ACT). Clinical and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) outcomes were assessed 12 and 24 months postoperatively for efficacy and adverse events.

Purpose: Studies have found anatomic variation in the coronal position of the insertion site of anteromedial (AM) bundle of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) on the tibia, which can lead to questions about tunnel placement during ACL reconstruction. The purpose of this study was to determine how mediolateral placement of the tibial AM graft tunnel in double-bundle ACL reconstructions affects knee biomechanics.

Methods: Two different types of double-bundle ACL reconstructions were performed.

We introduce the posterior double cannular sliding technique, which is an easy, fast, safe, and reproducible method for posterior septum resection of the knee joint. Several posterior compartment procedures have been developed. Procedures with anterior-posterior approaches (transnotch approach) and posterior-posterior approaches have become possible for arthroscopic total synovectomy and loose body removal.

Hemangioma is the most common benign tumor of a vascular origin, and is characterized by the abnormal proliferation of blood vessels. Intramuscular hemangioma (IMH) usually involves the skeletal muscles of the trunk or limbs, but rarely occurs in the head and neck region. This case report presents a patient with IMH showing multiple phleboliths in the buccal cheek.

Human dental pulp cells have been known to have the stem cell features such as self-renewal and multipotency. These cells are differentiated into hard tissue by addition of proper cytokines and biomaterials. Hydroxyapatite-tricalcium phosphates (HA-TCPs) are essential components of hard tissue and generally used as a biocompatible material in tissue engineering of bone.

Purpose: Quadriceps tendon grafts have renewed interest for ACL reconstruction; however, biomechanical studies comparing anatomic single-bundle (SB) and double-bundle (DB) reconstruction techniques are rare. The purpose of this study was to compare the knee biomechanics in four different types of anatomic ACL reconstruction techniques, using the quadriceps tendon in a human cadaver.

Methods: Four different tibial (T) and femoral (F) tunnel configurations, (a) DB-2F-2T, (b) DB-2F-1T, (c) SB-1F-1T and (d) DB-1F-2T, were used for ACL reconstruction using the split quadriceps tendon with patella bone.

Introduction: The purposes of this study were: (1) to compare tunnel locations using the conventional transtibial technique with reference data, and (2) to identify factors that make it difficult to position the femoral tunnel correctly or contribute to breakage of the bone bridge between the two tibial tunnels.

Materials And Methods: A prospective study was performed on 28 patients who underwent double bundle ACL reconstruction. Locations of each tunnel were determined using an anatomic coordinate axes method (ACAM).

Purpose: The objectives of this study were (1) to evaluate the sagittal and coronal plane location of the popliteal artery during the advancement of open-wedge high tibial osteotomy and (2) to confirm the effect of osteoarthritis if it changes the relationship between the popliteal artery and posterior cortex.

Methods: Two hundred consecutive patients were enrolled, and we divided patients into two subgroups according to age and cartilage status in the radiologic report of magnetic resonance imaging (group I: 100 non-arthritic knees; group II: 100 arthritic knees). For prediction of the location of the popliteal artery during the operation, sagittal and coronal plane location along the osteotomy plane was evaluated.

Purpose: To evaluate the initial stability of a suture anchor fixation and to compare this with a screw fixation and pull-out suture fixation for anterior cruciate ligament tibial avulsion fracture.

Methods: The initial fixation strength of 3 different fixation techniques, antegrade cannulated screw fixation, pull-out suture fixation with Ethibond and bioabsorbable knotless suture anchor fixation, was evaluated. Using 14 fresh cadavers (28 knees), the strength to failure, initial displacement and mode of failure were measured.

Introduction: Isolated fractures of the greater trochanter (GT) are relatively rare. The diagnosis can be done on routine radiographs, but it is difficult to fully define the geographic extent of these injuries. This study examined the pattern and extent of an injury shown by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and radionuclide bone scan (RBS) in patients whose plain radiographs revealed fractures limited to the GT.

The aim of this study was to determine the incidence and factors associated with subtrochanteric fracture after free vascularised fibular grafting for osteonecrosis of the femoral head, and to analyse clinical and radiological outcomes of open reduction and internal fixation. From April 1991 to May 2004, eight such fractures were managed by Rowe plate fixation. Factors examined included age, gender, side of operation, cause and preoperative and postoperative stage of osteonecrosis, and preoperative and postoperative functional assessment.

This article describes a new technique for the arthroscopic reduction and fixation of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tibial avulsion fractures using bioabsorbable suture anchors. This described technique requires the use of anterolateral, anteromedial, medial mid-patellar, and lateral mid-patellar portals. A suture hook loaded with No.
