The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and safety of photodynamic therapy (PDT) as a curative treatment option or as palliative therapy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Medical records of patients who received PDT for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, including carcinoma in situ, were reviewed retrospectively. Survival analysis was performed using the Kaplan-Meier method.

Aspergillus is a common saprophytic fungi of the human airways and causes a broad spectrum of diseases, ranging from aspergilloma to invasive aspergillosis. There are few reports on mediastinal aspergilloma without any underlying pulmonary disease or immunocompromise. Herein, we report a case of mediastinal aspergilloma that we experienced and treated by thoracoscopic resection and oral antifungal medication.

Severe tricuspid regurgitation resulting from a flail leaflet is a rare cause of neonatal cyanosis. We report a neonate with profound cyanosis and severe tricuspid regurgitation caused by a rupture of the papillary muscle supporting the anterior leaflet, without other structural heart defects. Ductal patency could not be established.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFA 13-year-old girl, who had undergone the total correction of partial atrioventricular septal defect at the age of 4 years, was admitted with severe tricuspid regurgitation in echocardiography. She had received one-and-a-half ventricle repair during follow-up. Her right ventricle showed global akinesia, and the ejection fraction of the left ventricle was 25% with paradoxical interventricular septal motion.
