The present study aimed to evaluate the incidence, characteristics and management of hepatic immune-related adverse events (irAEs) in patients with advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma (UC) and renal cell carcinoma (RCC) receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). Data regarding the demographics, ICI regimens and hepatic irAEs from 213 patients with metastatic UC or metastatic RCC receiving ICIs between February 2018 and September 2023 at three tertiary medical centers (Inje University Busan Paik Hospital, Busan, South Korea; Dongnam Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences Cancer Center, Busan, South Korea; Pusan National University Hospital, Busan, South Korea) in South Korea were collected and retrospectively analyzed. Hepatic irAEs were graded using the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events version 5.

Progranulin (PGRN) is an evolutionarily-conserved secretory protein implicated in immune modulation. The generalized deletion of the PGRN-encoded Grn gene improves insulin resistance and glucose intolerance in obese mice fed a high-fat diet (HFD).

However, disease recurrences are frequently observed in pT1 disease, and AC may increase the risk of overtreatment in pT2 UTUC patients. This study aimed to validate a risk-adapted scoring model for selecting UTUC patients with ≤pT2 disease who would benefit from AC.

We compared the clinical outcomes of a novel drug-injectable urethral catheter set (NIUS) with hyaluronic acid (HA) with those of the conventional intraurethral HA injection method. This six-center, prospective, randomized, single-blind trial included 192 male patients aged ≥ 20 years scheduled to undergo transurethral surgery.

Sarcopenia is characterized by the loss of muscle mass and function, increases in mortality rate, and risk of comorbidities in the elderly. This study evaluated the effects of hot water extract (AJHW) and its active compound, oregonin, on muscle atrophy and apoptosis in vitro. AJHW underwent phytochemical analysis.

However, the frequency and survival according to different sites of metastases in Korean patients with mRCC remain unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the frequency of metastatic site involvement and the association between sites of metastatic involvement and survival in Korean patients with mRCC.

Although hypertension (HTN) and diabetes mellitus (DM) are the most common factors that affect chronic kidney disease (CKD) development and progression, their impact on renal function during targeted therapy is unclear. This study investigated whether DM and HTN were associated with a decline in renal function during first-line targeted therapy for mRCC.

Therefore, high-dose IL-2 has been studied for use in cancer immunotherapy. We aimed to utilize low-dose IL-2 to treat inflammatory diseases such as obesity and insulin resistance, which involve low-grade chronic inflammation.

However, the available literature does not provide the prognostic value of VH based on its tumor burden in non-muscle invasive BCa (NMIBC). The purpose of the present study was to investigate the prognosis of VH in NMIBC with low-tumor volume compared with conventional urothelial carcinoma (UC) with a similar tumor burden.

We propose a new method for synthesizing elastic hydroxyapatite microgel (E-HAp-M) materials and immobilizing lipase using this mesoporous mineral via the ship-in-a-bottle-neck strategy. The physicochemical parameters of E-HAp-M were thoroughly studied, revealing that E-HAp-M provides efficient space for enzyme immobilization.

Methods: This is a retrospective, nationwide multicenter study of patients with mRCC after diagnosis at 10 different tertiary medical centers in Korea from January 1992 to December 2017. We focused on patients at either "favorable" or "intermediate" risk according to the International mRCC Database Consortium criteria, and they were followed up (median 335 days).

These organs interact through complex and sophisticated bi-directional pathways known as the 'lung-brain axis', facilitated by their close proximity and neural connections. Numerous studies have underscored the mediation of the lung-brain axis by inflammatory responses and hypoxia-induced damage, which are pivotal to the progression of both pulmonary and neurological diseases.

This study evaluated whether a circulating tumor cell (CTC)-based transcript platform, including PSMA mRNA, could help identify potential prognostic markers in prostate cancer.
Experimental Design: We prospectively enrolled 21 healthy individuals and 247 patients with prostate cancer [localized prostate cancer (LPCa), n = 94; metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC), n = 44; and metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), n = 109].
Cancer progression is driven by genetic mutations, environmental factors, and intricate interactions within the tumor microenvironment (TME). The TME comprises of diverse cell types, such as cancer cells, immune cells, stromal cells, and neuronal cells. These cells mutually influence each other through various factors, including cytokines, vascular perfusion, and matrix stiffness.
