Sclerosing angiomatoid nodular transformation of the splenic red pulp has been described quite recently; many of the lesions previously diagnosed as splenic exuberant granulation tissue, multinodular hemangioma, and inflammatory pseudotumor could actually belong to this category. The lesion has been well reported intermittently in the past, but new cases with still newer associations keep appearing from time to time. There are no known risk factors and no inciting triggers have been proven.

Patients with permanent pacemaker or automatic implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (AICD) leads have an increased prevalence of tricuspid regurgitation. However, the roles of cardiac rhythm and lead-placement duration in the development of severe tricuspid regurgitation are unclear. We reviewed echocardiographic data on 26 consecutive patients who had severe tricuspid regurgitation after permanent pacemaker or AICD placement; before treatment, they had no organic tricuspid valve disease, pulmonary hypertension, left ventricular dysfunction, or severe tricuspid regurgitation.

Transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) is a potent and context-dependent regulator of tumor progression. TGFβ promotes the lung metastasis of basal-like (but not the luminal-like) breast cancer. Here, we demonstrated that fascin, a pro-metastasis actin bundling protein, was a direct target of the canonical TGFβ-Smad4 signaling pathway in basal-like breast cancer cells.

Anaplastic astrocytoma is a high grade malignant glioma (WHO grade III) of the central nervous system which arises from a low grade II tumor and invariably progresses into lethal glioblastoma (WHO grade IV). We have studied differentially expressed proteins from the microsomal fraction of the clinical specimens of these tumors, using iTRAQ and high-resolution mass spectrometry followed by immunohistochemistry for representative proteins on tissue sections. A total of 2642 proteins were identified, 266 of them with minimum 2 peptide signatures and 2-fold change in expression.

MicroRNA-155 (miR-155) is frequently upregulated in various types of human cancer; however, its role in cancer angiogenesis remains unknown. Here, we demonstrate the role of miR-155 in angiogenesis through targeting von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) tumour suppressor in breast cancer. Ectopic expression of miR-155 induced whereas knockdown of miR-155 inhibited human umbilical vein endothelial cell network formation, proliferation, invasion and migration.

Ewing's / peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumor (pPNET) of the cavernous sinus are extremely uncommon. We present clinical, radiological, pathological findings of Ewing's / pPNET involving the cavernous sinus in an eleven-month-old infant presenting with proptosis and 6th nerve palsy. MRI Contrast scans showed a well-defined, homogenously enhancing mass involving the right cavernous sinus location.
