Pt is an active catalyst for diesel exhaust catalysis but is known to sinter and form large particles under oxidizing conditions. Pd is added to improve the performance of the Pt catalysts. To investigate the role of Pd, we introduced metallic Pt nanoparticles via physical vapor deposition to a sample containing PdO nanoparticles.

Of the two antigenically distinct toxins, Stx1 and Stx2, Stx2 is more firmly linked with the development of HUS.

It is now acceptable that different mechanisms contribute to normal physiologic pain, pain arising from tissue damage and pain arising from injury to the nervous system. To study pain transmission, spot novel pain targets and characterize the potential analgesic profile of new chemical entities, numerous experimental animal pain models have been developed that attempt to simulate the many human pain conditions.

Sclerosing angiomatoid nodular transformation of the splenic red pulp has been described quite recently; many of the lesions previously diagnosed as splenic exuberant granulation tissue, multinodular hemangioma, and inflammatory pseudotumor could actually belong to this category. The lesion has been well reported intermittently in the past, but new cases with still newer associations keep appearing from time to time. There are no known risk factors and no inciting triggers have been proven.

However, the roles of cardiac rhythm and lead-placement duration in the development of severe tricuspid regurgitation are unclear. We reviewed echocardiographic data on 26 consecutive patients who had severe tricuspid regurgitation after permanent pacemaker or AICD placement; before treatment, they had no organic tricuspid valve disease, pulmonary hypertension, left ventricular dysfunction, or severe tricuspid regurgitation.

TGFβ promotes the lung metastasis of basal-like (but not the luminal-like) breast cancer. Here, we demonstrated that fascin, a pro-metastasis actin bundling protein, was a direct target of the canonical TGFβ-Smad4 signaling pathway in basal-like breast cancer cells.

Background And Aim: The role of anthropometric measurements in the prediction of hamstring autograft size in Indian population remains unclear. Till now, no studies have been done on Indian population.
Methods: We evaluated 41 consecutive patients (34 males, 7 females) prospectively with anterior cruciate ligament deficiency scheduled for reconstruction using hamstring autograft at our institution between June 2011 and June 2013.
Anaplastic astrocytoma is a high grade malignant glioma (WHO grade III) of the central nervous system which arises from a low grade II tumor and invariably progresses into lethal glioblastoma (WHO grade IV). We have studied differentially expressed proteins from the microsomal fraction of the clinical specimens of these tumors, using iTRAQ and high-resolution mass spectrometry followed by immunohistochemistry for representative proteins on tissue sections. A total of 2642 proteins were identified, 266 of them with minimum 2 peptide signatures and 2-fold change in expression.

Sintering, or thermal deactivation, is an important mechanism for the loss of catalyst activity. This is especially true for high temperature catalytic processes, such as steam reforming, automotive exhaust treatment, or catalytic combustion.

Here, we report a case of a child with dual neuroepithelial tumors of different histological cell types and -review the available literature for analyzing the causal hypo-thesis.
Case Report: A 7-year-old girl presented with history of headaches associated with multiple episodes of early morning projectile vomiting and visual blurring.
Background: An impaired cardiac output response to exercise is a hallmark of chronic heart failure (HF). We determined the extent to which noninvasive estimates of cardiac hemodynamics during exercise in combination with cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPX) responses improved the estimation of risk for adverse events in patients with HF.
Methods And Results: CPX and impedance cardiography were performed in 639 consecutive patients (mean age 48 ± 14 years), evaluated for HF.
MicroRNA-155 (miR-155) is frequently upregulated in various types of human cancer; however, its role in cancer angiogenesis remains unknown. Here, we demonstrate the role of miR-155 in angiogenesis through targeting von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) tumour suppressor in breast cancer. Ectopic expression of miR-155 induced whereas knockdown of miR-155 inhibited human umbilical vein endothelial cell network formation, proliferation, invasion and migration.

We present clinical, radiological, pathological findings of Ewing's / pPNET involving the cavernous sinus in an eleven-month-old infant presenting with proptosis and 6th nerve palsy. MRI Contrast scans showed a well-defined, homogenously enhancing mass involving the right cavernous sinus location.

It is an autosomal recessive disorder and is due to mutations in the GNE gene that regulates the synthesis of sialic acid. Although reported predominantly from Japan, cases have been reported from other parts of the world.

Interestingly, WNIN/GR-Ob rats (Mutants), established at National Centre for Laboratory Animals (NCLAS) of National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), form a suitable model system to study obesity with Type 2 diabetes (T2D) demonstrating several secondary complications (cataract, cardiovascular complications, infertility, nephropathy etc). The present study has been carried out to explore the potent application(s) of multipotent stem cells such as bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs), to portray features of pre-diabetic/T2D vis-à-vis featuring obesity, with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), hyperinsulinemia (HI) and insulin resistance (IR) seen with Mutant rats akin to human situation.

Study Design: Prospective trial with insurance database and surveys.
Objective: This study was developed to determine whether an insurer rule requiring physiatrist consultation before nonurgent surgical consultation would affect surgery referrals and surgery rates.
Summary Of Background Data: Spine surgery rates are highly variable by region and increasing without evidence of a concordant decrease in the burden of disease.
Process analytical technology (PAT) is used to monitor and control critical process parameters in raw materials and in-process products to maintain the critical quality attributes and build quality into the product. Process analytical technology can be successfully implemented in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries not only to impart quality into the products but also to prevent out-of-specifications and improve the productivity. PAT implementation eliminates the drawbacks of traditional methods which involves excessive sampling and facilitates rapid testing through direct sampling without any destruction of sample.

Producing nanostructures with high surface area that are stable is important to accomplish sustained use of catalytic materials in practical settings. Avoiding the processes of ripening and sintering that typically hinder stability has long been recognized as a significant challenge and much research is focused on addressing these issues. In this article, we investigate a Pt nanostructure-a holey nanosheet-that exhibits high surface area and stability.
