This study investigated the kinetics of red sea bream iridovirus and host gene expression during infection in rock bream (Oplegnathus fasciatus), a species highly sensitive to the virus. After intraperitoneal injection of the viral solution at 10 TCID50/fish, the viral genome copy number in the spleen was 10 and 10 copies/μg DNA at 3 and 5 days post-injection (dpi), respectively. Using transcriptomic analyses via MiSeq, viral gene transcripts were detected at 3 and 5 dpi.
