Objective: To investigate the application of three-dimensional (3-D) printing technique combining with 3-D CT and computer aided-design technique in customized artificial bone fabrication, correcting mandibular asymmetry deformity after mandibular angle ostectomy.
Methods: Between April 2011 and June 2013, 23 female patients with mandibular asymmetry deformity after mandibular angle ostectomy were treated. The mean age was 27 years (range, 22-34 years).

Objective: To establish a method to prefabricate titanium plate with three-dimensional (3-D) printing technique for correction of mandibular prognathism in sagittal splint ramous osteotomy (SSRO).
Methods: Between January 2012 and May 2013, 12 patients with mandibular prognathism (Angle III malocclusion) were treated. Among them, 9 cases were male and 3 cases were female.

The paper reports the characterization of 81 pairs of Populus R2R3-MYB genes. Chromosome placement, phylogenetic, and motif structure analyses showed that these gene pairs resulted from multiple types of gene duplications and had five different gene fates.

Materials And Methods: Between January 2006 and December 2011, thirty-one patients with histologically proven LS-SCLC who were treated with two cycles of chemotherapy followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy and consolidation chemotherapy were retrospectively analyzed. The chemotherapy regimen was composed of etoposide and cisplatin.

Accumulation of microtubule-associated protein tau has been observed in the brain of aging and tauopathies. Tau was observed in microglia, but its role is not illustrated. By immunofluorescence staining and the fractal dimension value assay in the present study, we observed that microglia were activated in the brains of rats and mice during aging, simultaneously, the immunoreactivities of total tau and the phosphorylated tau were significantly enhanced in the activated microglia.

Methods: The clinical data of 561 cases of chronic pancreatitis admitted to PLA General Hospital from June, 2008 to January, 2013 were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed. Data were extracted and analyzed to summarize the reasons of the differences in AIP diagnosis rate diagnosed by different diagnostic criteria.
The intracellular accumulation of hyperphosphorylated tau plays a crucial role in neurodegeneration of Alzheimer's disease (AD), but the mechanism is not fully understood. From the observation that tau hyperphosphorylation renders cells more resistant to chemically-induced cell apoptosis, we have proposed that tau-involved apoptotic abortion may be the trigger of neurodegeneration. Here, we further studied whether this phenomenon is also applicable for the cell death induced by constitutively expressed factors, such as death-associated protein kinase 1 (DAPK1).

Therefore, in vivo silencing I2(PP2A) may rescue PP2A and mitigate AD neurodegeneration. By infusion of lentivirus-shRNA targeting I2(PP2A) (LV-siI2(PP2A)) into hippocampus and frontal cortex of 11-month-old tg2576 mice, we demonstrated that expression of LV-siI2(PP2A) decreased remarkably the elevated I2(PP2A) in both mRNA and protein levels.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFatigue damage behaviors of four metal materials in the very high cycle fatigue (VHCF) regime have been studied using ultrasonic fatigue test and microstructure analysis. The results show that the fatigue crack initiation in VHCF regime could occur at subsurface non-defect fatigue crack origin (SNDFCO), where the accumulated cyclic strains or damage in the specimens were highly localized, especially in the materials with some softer phase, where the local maximum strain can be eight times higher than the average strain value in the specimen. This high strain localization can cause a local plasticity exhaustion that leads to a stress concentration and consequently fatigue crack initiation, and finally the formation of SNDFCO.

Its biosynthesis is regulated by a variety of enzymes including gibberellin 3-oxidase that is a key rate-limiting enzyme. In Arabidopsis, gibberellin 3-oxidase consists of four members, of which AtGA3OX1 and AtGA3OX2 are highly expressed in stems, suggesting the potential roles in the stem development played by the two genes.
