Introduction EUS-guided gall bladder drainage (EUS-GBD) for management of symptomatic gallbladder disease has been shown to be safe and effective in high surgical risk patients with data lacking in patients with cirrhosis. We sought to study the safety and effectiveness of EUS-GBD in cirrhotic compared to non-cirrhotic patients. Methods Retrospective review of patients who underwent EUS-GBD at four (3 US and 1 Spain) international tertiary care centers.

Drawing on case studies from Brazil, India, and Nigeria, this opinion piece explores how community-driven initiatives have successfully improved leprosy awareness, reduced stigma, and fostered early case detection and treatment adherence. The importance of culturally sensitive, inclusive approaches in health education and stigma reduction campaigns is highlighted, emphasizing the potential for community engagement to enhance national leprosy programs and contribute to the World Health Organization's Zero Leprosy Strategy.

The quantum dynamics of carbon chains through H2 and He collisions in the interstellar medium (ISM) is an important step toward accurate modeling of their abundance in non-local thermodynamic equilibrium conditions. The C5(Σg+1) molecule is the longest pure carbon chain detected in the ISM to date. While He collisions are computationally easy to perform, the collision with much more abundant H2 is both complicated and computationally demanding.

Rotational dynamics of CNCN by p-H2 and o-H2 collision at interstellar temperatures.

The rotational dynamics of isocyanogen (CNCN) is studied for its collision with para (p-) and ortho (o-) hydrogen (H2) in the temperature range of 1-100 K. These temperatures correspond to the cold dense molecular clouds in the interstellar medium where molecular hydrogen is the primary collider. An ab initio 4D potential energy surface (PES) is constructed keeping the two molecules under rigid rotor approximation.

Introduction: There has been a rapid increase in the prevalence of T2DM in sub-Saharan Africa. Lifestyle-related risk factors require self-management strategies, and these must be tailored to the context.

Published studies report a higher adenoma detection rate (ADR) for FIT-DNA as compared with FIT. Data are less replete about the performance of stool-based tests for sessile serrated polyp (SSP) detection. We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the performance of FIT and FIT-DNA testing for SSP detection rate (SSPDR) in patients undergoing colonoscopy for follow up of positive noninvasive tests.

A new four dimensional (4D) potential energy surface (PES) is generated for the collision of C(Σ) with H(Σ), considering both molecules as rigid rotors. A supervised neural network model is created to augment the PES and to get the missing data points. Furthermore, space fixed expansion of the augmented PES is carried out using a least squares fit over two spherical harmonics terms, resulting in radial coefficients (, , and ).

Production, purification and immunogenicity of Gag virus-like particles carrying SARS-CoV-2 components.

The virus-like particle (VLP) platform is a robust inducer of humoral and cellular immune responses; hence, it has been used in vaccine development for several infectious diseases. In the current work, VLPs carrying SARS-CoV-2 Spike (S) protein (Wuhan strain) with an HIV-1 Gag core were produced using suspension HEK 293SF-3F6 cells by transient transfection. The Gag was fused with green fluorescent protein (GFP) for rapid quantification of the VLPs.

The burden of type 2 diabetes (T2DM) in China is significant and growing, and this is reflected in high rates of T2DM in the city of Ningbo, China. Consequent impacts on morbidity, mortality, healthcare expenditure, and health-related quality of life, make this a problem of the utmost importance to address. One way to improve T2DM outcomes is to address lifestyle behaviours that may affect prognosis and complications, such as physical activity levels, dietary habits, smoking status, and alcohol intake.

Preclinical Development and Characterization of Novel Adeno-Associated Viral Vectors for the Treatment of Lipoprotein Lipase Deficiency.

Lipoprotein lipase deficiency (LPLD) results from mutations within the gene that lead to a complete lack of catalytically active LPL protein. Glybera was one of the first adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene replacement therapy to receive European Medicines Agency regulatory approval for the treatment of LPLD. However, Glybera is no longer marketed potentially due to a combination of economical, manufacturing, and vector-related issues.

Packaging or producer cell lines for scalable recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) production have been notoriously difficult to create due in part to the cytostatic nature of the Rep proteins required for AAV production. The most difficult challenge being creating AAV packaging cell lines using HEK293 parental cells, currently the best mammalian platform for rAAV production due to the constitutive expression of in HEK293 cells, a key transcription activator. Using suspension and serum-free media adapted HEK293SF carrying a gene expression regulation system induced by addition of cumate and coumermycin, we were able to create -expressing AAV packaging cells.

NCCN Guidelines® Insights: Biliary Tract Cancers, Version 2.2023.

In 2023, the NCCN Guidelines for Hepatobiliary Cancers were divided into 2 separate guidelines: Hepatocellular Carcinoma and Biliary Tract Cancers. The NCCN Guidelines for Biliary Tract Cancers provide recommendations for the evaluation and comprehensive care of patients with gallbladder cancer, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, and extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. The multidisciplinary panel of experts meets at least on an annual basis to review requests from internal and external entities as well as to evaluate new data on current and emerging therapies.

Long-term recurrence after endoscopic versus surgical ampullectomy of sporadic ampullary adenomas: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background And Aims: Ampullary adenomas are treated both surgically and endoscopically, however, data comparing both techniques are lacking. We aimed to compare long-term recurrence of benign sporadic adenomas after endoscopic (EA) and surgical ampullectomy (SA).

Methods: A comprehensive literature search of multiple databases (until December 29, 2020) was performed to identify studies reporting outcomes of EA or SA of benign sporadic ampullary adenomas.
