Introduction: postoperative sore throat (POST) is a common complication after general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation caused by tracheal mucosal injury. Multiple techniques prevent postoperative sore throat (POST). Our study aimed to compare two techniques: intravenous and intracuff lidocaine versus placebo to prevent postoperative sore throat after general anesthesia with orotracheal intubation.

Methods: We retrospectively collected and selected all patients having episodes of symptom diagnoses during the period 2008 and 2021 from the Family Medicine Network (FaMe-Net) database. From this group, we identified symptom diagnoses that last for less than a year and symptom diagnoses that persist for more than a year.

Introduction: The burden of symptoms is a subjective experience of distress. Little is known on the burden of feeling unwell in patients with persistent symptom diagnoses. The aim of this study was to assess the burden in primary care patients with persistent symptom diagnoses compared to other primary care patients.

Although symptom diagnoses often get resolved spontaneously without a clearly defined illness nor treatment, up to 38% of these symptoms persist more than 1 year. It is largely unknown how often symptom diagnoses occur, which symptoms persist, and how general practitioners (GPs) manage them.

The motivations most frequently associated with the presence of foreign bodies within the bladder are of a sexual or erotic nature. Various objects have been inserted into the bladder and many patients fail to remove them themselves and are very embarrassed to seek medical advice, which is the origin of a clinical picture which is most often atypical which occurs in a patient particular terrain.

Objective: The objective of this study was to assess whether the central venous-to-arterial carbon dioxide partial-pressure difference (ΔPCO) and the ratio of the ΔPCO to the arterial-venous difference in oxygen content (ΔPCO/Ca-vO) predict postoperative complications (PC) after cardiac surgery.
Design: Prospective, observational, noninterventional study.
Participants: The study comprised 60 patients undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass.
Giant adrenal cysts represent rare clinical entities that are usually discovered incidentally. Here, we describe a patient who presented with nonspecific upper abdominal left pain. Imaging studies revealed a huge left adrenal cyst.

We investigated herein the relationship between the clinical profile of 64 domestic dogs living in Tunisian endemic areas and their serological immune status with the aim to identify leishmanial serological markers of diagnosis and disease staging. Seven clinical signs were examined and a total clinical score that describes the number (TCS1) and the number plus the intensity of the clinical signs (TCS2) were determined.

High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), as an inflammatory mediator, may be useful for the prediction of the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and assessment of nocturnal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) therapy effect in OSAHS patients.
Methods: A prospective, controlled, cross-sectional study was conducted on 64 consecutive adult subjects with suspected sleep-disordered breathing (SDB).
Leishmania (L.) infantum-infected dogs may present with a large range of clinical signs, from apparently healthy with no or few (asymptomatic dogs, AD) to several clinical signs indicators of active infection (symptomatic dogs, SD). The present study is justified by the conflicting reports describing that either L.

For that purpose, we combined colony assays and single cells progeny analyses of purified megakaryocyte-erythroid progenitors (MEP) after short-term cultures on recombinant Notch ligand rDLL1. We showed that Notch activation stimulated the SCF-dependent and preferential amplification of Kit+ erythroid and bipotent progenitors while favoring commitment towards the erythroid at the expense of megakaryocytic lineage.

In this study, magnetic polydivinylbenzene latex particles MPDVB with a core-shell structure were tested for the removal of bisphenol A (BPA), copper Cu(II), lead Pb(II), and zinc Zn(II) from aqueous solutions by a batch-adsorption technique. The effect of different parameters, such as initial concentration of pollutant, contact time, adsorbent dose, and initial pH solution on the adsorption of the different adsorbates considered was investigated. The adsorption of BPA, Cu(II), Pb(II), and Zn(II) was found to be fast, and the equilibrium was achieved within 30 min.

The BPES syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant genetic disease characterized by eyelid malformations associated with premature ovarian failure (BPES type I) or not (BPES type II). The human FOXL2 protein (376 aa) contains a 100 amino-acid DNA-binding forkhead domain (residues 52-152) and a polyalanine tract (residues 221-234).
