This study investigates human semicircular canal (SCC) dynamics under off-center rotational conditions. Previous research has modeled human rotational perception and the dynamic response of the SCCs by assuming a centered rotation state, where the rotation axis aligns with the SCC's center. However, this assumption is not representative of most real-life rotational situations.

Emerging evidence has indicated that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in the progression of various types of cancer. In this study, we aimed to identify potential causal lncRNAs in CRC through comprehensive multilevel bioinformatics analyses, coupled with functional validation.

Background/purpose: Childhood Sjögren disease (cSjD) is a rare disease. There are no widely accepted diagnostic or classification criteria for cSjD. To fill this gap, members from CARRA Sjogren Workgroup and the International cSjD Workgroup created a clinical diagnostic algorithm.

This study examines how lifetime discrimination, educational attainment (measured in years of education), and family support individually and interactively predict COVID-19 vaccine uptake. Low educational attainment may amplify the impact of discrimination due to increased vulnerability to misinformation.

Furthermore, in recent years, there have been significant efforts to engineer EVs to improve their native activities and integrate additional functions. Although both endogenous and exogenous methods are used for engineering EVs, endogenous methods may pose the problem of administering substances to cells undergoing metabolic changes, which can cause potential side effects.

However, genes underlying facial similarities in individuals from the same family remain less explored. To identify genetic variants associated with heritable facial features, we investigated familial (parent-offspring) associations and estimated familial correlation and heritability using 39 facial measurements in 408 individuals from 117 Korean families.

Objectives: To evaluate the utility of nRBCs as a marker of disease severity and prognosis in dogs with systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS).
Animals: Sixty-two client-owned dogs met the criteria of SIRS without anemia.
Previous studies have shown that testosterone activates the GPRC6A-Duox1 axis, resulting in the production of HO which leads to the apoptosis of keratinocytes and ultimately hair loss. Here, we elucidated a molecular mechanism by which the non-genomic action of testosterone regulates cellular redox status in androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Building upon this molecular understanding, we conducted a high-throughput screening assay of Nox inhibitors from a natural compounds library.

Even corifollitropin alfa, with an extended half-life, requires supplementary injections of rhFSH after 7 days. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a long-acting follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) formulation using anti-serum albumin Fab-associated (SAFA) technology to avoid additional injections and enhance ovarian function.

Methods: We consequently included 196 pSS patients (190 women) and cross-sectionally collected clinical and laboratory data including the EULAR Sjögren's Syndrome Disease Activity Index (ESSDAI) and Patient Reported Index (ESSPRI). The fatigue-dominant group was defined as those in the highest quartile of the fraction of fatigue, calculated as the ESSPRI fatigue score divided by the total ESSPRI score.
We hypothesized a treatment guideline for ulna/radius nonunion after failed surgical treatment and propose to verify it in a prospective study. Herein, we report our preliminary findings and review the current trend. Six patients who met the criteria were retrospectively investigated, and we further categorized "nonunion of both the radius/ulna" into four subcategories.

This Perspective explores the development of biological methods for converting C1 feedstocks into valuable products, emphasizing major progress from engineering native C1 assimilation pathways to the creation of synthetic autotrophs and methylotrophs that utilize these carbon sources. Additionally, we discuss hybrid approaches that merge biological and electrochemical systems, particularly for the conversion of CO.

To enhance the efficacy of influenza vaccines, we induce the generation of lung T cells following intranasal vaccination with a commercial influenza vaccine adjuvanted with NexaVant (NVT), a TLR3 agonist-based adjuvant. We demonstrate that intranasal immunization with the NVT-adjuvanted vaccine provides improved protection against influenza virus infections by inducing the generation of CD4 T cells in the lungs in a type I interferon-dependent manner.

While alternative approaches have been explored, the specific role of alveolar epithelial cells in the pathogenesis of COPD remains unclear. Bricker and colleagues proposed a single metric that accurately predicted early dropout from 4 digital tobacco cessation interventions based on log-in data in the initial week after registration. Generalization of this method to additional interventions and modalities would strengthen confidence in the approach and facilitate additional research drawing on it to increase user retention.

However, traditional in vitro models often inadequately mimic the diverse biochemical signals and electrophysiological properties of mature cardiomyocytes. Herein, we propose the application of monolayer graphene, transferred onto SU-8 cantilevers integrated with a microelectrode array, to evaluate its influence on the structural, functional, and electro-mechano-physiological properties of cardiomyocytes.

Considering South Korea's increasing duck production and its strategic location along the East Asian-Australasian Flyway, this study aimed to assess the presence of DTMUV in South Korea to evaluate potential risks to the poultry industry. We performed a comprehensive serological survey of 1796 serum samples from broiler and breeder ducks collected between 2011 and 2023, alongside molecular detection tests on 51 duck flocks exhibiting suspected clinical signs of DTMUV infection.

Axonal modulation therapy (AMT), directed at the sympathetic chain, blocks efferent sympathetic outflow to the heart and is a strategy to transiently and controllably mitigate chronic MI-associated sympatho-excitation. In porcine models, we evaluated scalable AMT, directed at the paravertebral chain, in blocking reflex-mediated pacing-induced sympatho-excitation post-MI.
