Combination of three cytotoxic agents in small-cell lung cancer.

Purpose: The established treatment for small-cell lung cancer has been a cisplatin-etoposide combination, as the most effective chemotherapy regimen. Paclitaxel has also been used in combination with cisplatin and etoposide but this has been unacceptable due to the toxicity. This toxicity could be attributed to the three consequent days of treatment with etoposide plus the doses of each of the three drugs.

Irinotecan combined with docetaxel in pre-treated metastatic breast cancer patients: a phase II study.

Purpose: This is a phase II study where a novel chemotherapy combination was tested in pre-treated breast cancer patients: docetaxel and irinotecan have already been established as agents for breast and colorectal cancer, respectively.

Methods: Forty-eight (median age 54 years, range 26-77 year) patients, all evaluable, were enrolled. All patients had been pre-treated with anthracycline-combined chemotherapy, 30 of whom were also treated with paclitaxel and 2 with docetaxel.

Irinotecan (CPT-11) in patients with advanced colon carcinoma relapsing after 5-fluorouracil-leucovorin combination.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the association between performance status (PS) and mean dose of irinotecan (CPT-11) in patients with recurrent advanced colorectal cancer relapsing after 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin chemotherapy. Patients who had completed their last chemotherapy course with 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin for at least 6 weeks and progressed were included. Based on PS, we administered a starting dose of 250 mg/m(2) in patients with a PS 70-80 (group A), and 350 mg/m(2) for those with a PS > 80 (group B).

Efficacy of ondansentron treatment for acute emesis with different dosing schedules 8 vs 32 mg. A randomized study.

The aim of the present randomized study was to evaluate which dose of Ondansentron (OND)(32 versus 8 mg) is appropriate for the antiemetic treatment of a uniform group of patients (pts) with Non Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) who were treated with Cisplatin (CDDP) 100 mg/m2 in combination with other less emetogenic drugs. One hundred and ten patients, with histologically confirmed NSCLC entered this randomized study. They were between 50 - 70 years old, with no previous Chemotherapy, with a PS (Karnofsky) >60%.
