Although uterus and cervix infiltration is a frequent finding in the later stages of lymphomatous disease, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) of the female genital tract is extremely rare. We present the case of a 63-years- old woman diagnosed with postmenopausal bleeding, Ann Arbor stage IE, primary, diffuse, large B-cell NHL of the uterus. Disease status was monitored with physical examination and imaging studies.

Introduction: Many surgeons use intraoperative frozen-section (FS) biopsy of thyroid nodules to predict malignant disease, but the findings are often not in agreement with those of fine-needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy. Our objective in this study was to assess the value of intraoperative FS biopsy in patients with nodular disease of the thyroid gland.

Methods: In this study, 203 patients underwent thyroid surgery at the Ankara Oncology Hospital.

The aim of this study was to compare the tocolytic effect of a selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor, DFU (5,5-dimethyl-3(3-fluorophenyl)-4-(4-methylsulphonyl)phenyl-2(5H)-furanone), indomethacin and nimesulide on myometrial strips isolated from rats in both lipopolysaccharide-induced preterm labour and term labour. We also compared the constrictor effects of DFU and indomethacin on the fetal ductus arteriosus. Myometrial strips were obtained from preterm and term labour Wistar albino rats and were mounted in organ baths for the recording of isometric tension.

We investigated the effects of spermine NONOate (SPER/NO), diethylenetriamine NONOate (DETA/NO) and methylene blue for preventing postoperative adhesion in a rat uterine horn model. Before operations, rats were randomly assigned into 6 groups, each composed of 12 rats. These were the sham, control, normal saline, SPER/NO, DETA/NO and methylene blue groups.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of YC-1 (3-(5'-hydroxymethyl-2'-furyl)-1-benzyl indazole) on spontaneous contractions and levels of cyclic GMP (cGMP) of myometrial strips isolated from pregnant rats. It is a nitric oxide-independent soluble guanylate cyclase activator. Myometrial strips were obtained from eight pregnant Wistar albino rats and were mounted in organ baths for the recording of isometric tensions.

Objectives: To ascertain whether detailed isokinetic knee muscle testing reflects the results of other functional measurements in footballers and to look for any correlations between quadriceps tendon thickness and knee strength.

Methods: Ultrasonographic evaluation of the quadriceps tendon (Hitachi EUB-405), isokinetic knee testing (Biodex System 3), and sprint measurements using telemetric photoelectric cells (Chronometre Prosport ESC TX02) were carried out on 29 elite footballers. Jumping capacity was evaluated using Bosco's jumping mat (Ergojump).

Carpal tunnel syndrome, although rare, is known to occur in children mainly because of genetic or metabolic disorders. The clinical findings are variable and include symptoms of burning pain, tingling, numbness, and weakness or atrophy in the hands of the patients. It is usually diagnosed by demonstration of prolonged distal latency times during the electrodiagnostic studies.

Background: Postsurgical adhesions can occur following virtually all types of surgery, resulting in serious clinical complications. Therefore, prevention of adhesions is an important goal of surgical practice. A rat uterine horn model was used to investigate the efficacy of N,O-carboxymethylchitosan (NOCC) and spermine NONOate (SPER/NO) alone and in combination in preventing adhesion formation.

Objectives: To compare the anti-adhesion potential of 1% methylene blue (MB) solution and 2% N,O-carboxymethylchitosan (NOCC) gel in a rat uterine horn model.

Design: Experimental animal study.

Setting: University medical center.

Purpose: Pleurodesis is used to treat pleural effusions, and a number of agents with varying degrees of efficacy and systemic toxicity have been trialed. This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and systemic toxicity of polidocanol in pleurodesis.

Methods: Thirty albino Wistar rats were divided into three groups of ten rats each.

Purpose: The spread of colorectal carcinoma (CRC) affects both staging and treatment. In this prospective study we examined the relationship between carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels in bile, mesenteric venous blood, and peripheral venous blood, and the presence of occult hepatic metastases in patients with CRC.

Methods: Sixty patients who underwent elective surgery at Ankara Oncology Hospital were voluntarily assigned to one of the three groups of 20 patients each.

The purpose of this study was to investigate (a) the effects of rubber and plastic concentrations and rubber particle sizes on properties of asphalt cement, (b) on properties of asphalt concrete specimens and (c) the effects of fly ash, marble powder, rubber powder and petroleum contaminated soil as filler materials instead of stone powder in the asphalt concrete specimens. One type of limestone aggregate and one penetration-graded asphalt cement (75-100) were used. Three concentrations of rubber and plastic (i.

Objective: The aims of this study were to evaluate bone mineral density (BMD) in patients with juvenile chronic arthritis (JCA), compare them with healthy controls, and assess the effects of disease activity and corticosteroid treatment on BMD.

Methods: Twenty-eight patients diagnosed with JCA and 45 healthy controls were included in this study. Disease activity was determined by clinical and laboratory evaluation, Articular Disease Severity Score (ADSS), and the Juvenile Arthritis Functional Assessment Report (JAFAR).

Background: The aim was to compare the efficacy of Burch colposuspension, transvaginal four-corner bladder neck suspension (FCBNS) and the vaginal wall sling (VWS) procedures in patients with stress urinary incontinence.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 88 patients who underwent Burch colposuspension (n = 20), FCBNS (n = 29) and VWS (n = 39) for stress urinary incontinence. Objective and subjective cure rates at 3 months and annually after the operation were the primary outcome measures.

A 15-year-old boy, with a diagnosis of hemophilia A, suffered bleeding into his left forearm 5 months before being admitted to our medical center. His neurological examination revealed a pronounced median neuropathy and a minor ulnar neuropathy on the left side. There was marked muscle atrophy on the thenar side and, to a lesser degree, on the hypothenar side and in the forearm.

Objective: Our objective in this study was to investigate the ultrastructure of endothelial and muscle cells of human umbilical vessels in both normal and pre-eclamptic pregnancies.

Methods: Ten umbilical cords from pre-eclamptic (36, 38 and 40 weeks) and four from normal pregnancies (40 weeks) were collected immediately after vaginal deliveries. Umbilical veins and arteries were isolated and fixed in phosphate-buffered 2.

The aim of this study was to compare in vivo effects of single and repetitive doses of betamethasone (BETA) and dexamethasone (DEX) administered to pregnant mice on lung maturation and lung, liver, and body weights (LLBW) of their pups. One hundred and eighty gravid Swiss albino mice were randomly assigned to 1 of 6 groups (n = 30) and administered either BETA, DEX, or saline as a single dose at 14 d gestation or repetitive doses twice daily at 14 and 15 d gestation. All the study groups were then divided into three sets (n = 10).

The residual aneurysm rate is reported between 3,8% and 21% in the cases followed after intracranial aneurysm surgery. In the formation of the residual aneurysm, the risk factors include such structural characteristics as the size and lobulation of the aneurysm, posterior circulation, para-ophthalmic localisation and intra-operative rupture. The rates and causes of postoperative residual aneurysms were analyzed in 186 intracranial aneurysm of 160 patients, including the possible effects of temporary clipping on the residual rates.
