Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) represents the primary cause of death and disability globally, with elevated cholesterol as one of the leading risk factors for CVD. We describe the clinical characteristics, treatment patterns, and effectiveness of evolocumab in treating hyperlipidemia.

Methods: Observational study conducted through a chart review of patients with hyperlipidemia receiving evolocumab as part of clinical management in Colombia.

Analysis of the evolocumab (Repatha®) patient support program for patients with cardiovascular disease in Colombia.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases are considered the leading cause of death globally. Stochastic evaluation of four-component relativistic second-order many-body perturbation energies: A potentially quadratic-scaling correlation method.

A second-order many-body perturbation correction to the relativistic Dirac-Hartree-Fock energy is evaluated stochastically by integrating 13-dimensional products of four-component spinors and Coulomb potentials. The integration in the real space of electron coordinates is carried out by the Monte Carlo (MC) method with the Metropolis sampling, whereas the MC integration in the imaginary-time domain is performed by the inverse-cumulative distribution function method. The computational cost to reach a given relative statistical error for spatially compact but heavy molecules is observed to be no worse than cubic and possibly quadratic with the number of electrons or basis functions.

A Survey of Residents/Fellows, Program Directors, and Faculty About Telepsychiatry: Clinical Experience, Interest, and Views/Concerns.

The effectiveness of telepsychiatry video for clinical care is well established, and clinician and psychiatry resident interest in it is growing-particularly in light of the COVID-19 impact. Still, few residency programs in the United States have core curricula, rotations/electives available, and competencies, and many faculty have no experience. A survey was sent via national organization listserves for residents, fellows, faculty, and program directors to complete.

Projections of excess mortality related to diurnal temperature range under climate change scenarios: a multi-country modelling study.

Background: Various retrospective studies have reported on the increase of mortality risk due to higher diurnal temperature range (DTR). This study projects the effect of DTR on future mortality across 445 communities in 20 countries and regions.

Methods: DTR-related mortality risk was estimated on the basis of the historical daily time-series of mortality and weather factors from Jan 1, 1985, to Dec 31, 2015, with data for 445 communities across 20 countries and regions, from the Multi-Country Multi-City Collaborative Research Network.

Utility of Spectral-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography in Differentiating Papilledema From Pseudopapilledema: A Prospective Longitudinal Study.

Background: Prospective and longitudinal studies assessing the utility of spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) to differentiate papilledema from pseudopapilledema are lacking. We studied the sensitivity and specificity of baseline and longitudinal changes in SD-OCT parameters with 3D segmentation software to distinguish between papilledema and pseudopapilledema in a cohort of patients referred for evaluation of undiagnosed optic disc elevation.

Methods: Fifty-two adult patients with optic disc elevation were enrolled in a prospective longitudinal study.

Implementation of the Molecular Electrostatic Potential over Graphics Processing Units.

The molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) generated by quantum chemistry methods and Gaussian functions is evaluated over graphics processing units (GPUs). This implementation is based on full-range Rys polynomials with nodes and weights obtained in each thread of a GPU. For high angular moments, the corresponding integral is solved using a one-dimension vertical recurrence relation.

Comparison of the patient and partner satisfaction with 700CX and Titan penile prostheses.

Most widespread three-component penile prosthesis models are 700CX™ and Titan ® . Our purpose is to assess patient and partner satisfaction after the first implant. This is a multicenter, retrospective, nonrandomized study in which all patients who met the inclusion criteria between 2009 and 2013 were included.

The flexibilization of employment relationships in the health sector: the reality in a Federal University Hospital in Brazil.

This was a socio-historical study that aimed to analyze the repercussions of the flexibilization of labor relationships within a University hospital (UH) using the thematic oral history method and triangulation of sources made up of workers' statements, institutional documents and relevant literature. It was observed that flexibilization, driven by state reform in the 1990s, had a structural impact on the trajectory of this institution, that, due to government downsizing policy, adopted outsourcing to maintain staff, leading to high staff turnover, various types of conflicts, and discontinuity and lack of organization of work processes. We conclude that the flexibilization of employment relationships became a handicap for this UH, disrupting services, negatively affecting students and service users, contributing to the deterioration of working conditions and lack of protection of workers.

Generator replacement is associated with an increased rate of ICD lead alerts.

Background: Lead malfunction is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD). We have shown that the failure of recalled high-voltage leads significantly increases after ICD generator replacement. However, generator replacement has not been recognized as a predictor of lead failure in general.

Internal Mammary Arterial Injury from Lead Extraction: A Clinically Subtle yet Important Complication of Implantable Device Removal.

Percutaneous implantable device extraction has increased in recent years and is associated with small but significant risk. Arteriovenous fistula formation is an uncommon complication of this procedure. We report two cases where lead extraction was complicated by an arteriovenous fistula between the left internal mammary artery and the left brachiocephalic vein.

Atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia ablation in the setting of bilateral femoral vein occlusion.

Atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) is the most common supraventricular tachycardia. Ablation of the slow pathway is the treatment of choice for recurrent episodes despite adequate medical therapy. We present an uncommon case of AVNRT ablation using a superior vena cava approach in a patient with bilateral common femoral vein occlusion.

A rare coincidence of two coronary anomalies in an adult.

Anomalous right-sided left main coronary arteries and dual type IV left anterior descending arteries are rare coronary anomalies. In this case report, we present a 59 year old man with atypical chest pain and a combination of the above coronary anomalies as identified by selective coronary angiography and computed tomography angiography. To the best of our knowledge, the coincidence of these coronary anomalies has not been previously described.
