Computer-based technologies have been widely used in nursing education, although the best educational modality to improve documentation and nursing diagnostic accuracy using electronic health records is still under investigation. It is important to address this gap and seek an effective way to address increased accuracy around nursing diagnoses identification. Nursing diagnoses are judgments that represent a synthesis of data collected by the nurse and used to guide interventions and to achieve desirable patients' outcomes.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined how standardized nursing terminologies (SNTs), recognized by the American Nurses Association, affect patient care and organizational results.
  • Previous research hinted at their impact, but this review is the first to provide a structured analysis and meta-analysis of existing studies.
  • Key findings reveal that certain SNTs correlate with better patient outcomes, such as reduced hospital stay and readmission rates, though the overall quality of evidence was rated from very low to low, indicating a need for more robust research.

Weight discordance is among the major determinants of perinatal outcome in twin pregnancies. Weight discordance can occur in each trimester of pregnancy, though the clinical meaning of such finding and the association with adverse perinatal outcome can vary according to the gestational age (GA) at detection of growth discrepancy. Discrepancy in fetal size in the first trimester of pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of anomalies, aneuploidy, and fetal loss, though the predictive accuracy of using discordance to predict perinatal outcome is low.

Hyperactivation of oncogenic pathways downstream of RAS and PI3K/AKT in normal cells induces a senescence-like phenotype that acts as a tumor-suppressive mechanism that must be overcome during transformation. We previously demonstrated that AKT-induced senescence (AIS) is associated with profound transcriptional and metabolic changes. Here, we demonstrate that human fibroblasts undergoing AIS display upregulated cystathionine-β-synthase (CBS) expression and enhanced uptake of exogenous cysteine, which lead to increased hydrogen sulfide (HS) and glutathione (GSH) production, consequently protecting senescent cells from oxidative stress-induced cell death.

Article Synopsis
  • This study explored the relationship between low-dose glucocorticoids (GCs) and mortality in patients with early arthritis, specifically rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or undifferentiated arthritis, using linked clinical and administrative data.
  • A total of 449 patients were enrolled, with a follow-up period averaging about 104 months; 11.36% of participants died during the study.
  • The analysis indicated that low-dose GCs did not significantly predict mortality, regardless of dosage (≤7.5 mg/day or >7.5 mg/day), suggesting no clear impact on overall survival in these patients.

: The best application modality of high-fidelity simulation in graduate critical care nursing courses is still rarely investigated in nursing research. This is an important issue since advanced nursing skills are necessary to effectively respond to critically ill patients' care needs. The aim of the study was to examine the influence of a modified teaching model based on multiple exposures to high-fidelity simulations on both the learning outcomes and the perceptions of graduate students enrolled in a critical care nursing course.

Background/aim: Ewing sarcomas most commonly arise in the bones, but can also manifest as extraskeletal tumours in soft tissues. Metastases from extraskeletal Ewing sarcomas occur in more diverse anatomical sites than skeletal tumours, and have poorer survival rates. Few animal models replicate the extraskeletal form of Ewing sarcoma, and those that have been developed do not reflect the widespread metastatic spread of these cancers.

Background: In postgraduate intensive care nursing courses, high-fidelity simulation is useful to prepare students to guarantee safe and quality care of critically ill patients. Surprisingly, this issue has not attracted sufficient attention in the literature, and it is not clear whether the linear application of the traditional high-fidelity simulation method based on prebriefing, the simulation session and debriefing, can serve as empirical reference in postgraduate students' education. The aim of this study was to investigate the lived experiences of postgraduate students receiving multiple exposures to an innovative high-fidelity simulation design based on Kolb's Experiential Learning Theory.

Osteosarcoma is the most common form of primary bone cancer and frequently metastasizes to the lungs. Current therapies fail to successfully treat over two thirds of patients with metastatic osteosarcoma, so there is an urgent imperative to develop therapies that effectively target established metastases. Smac mimetics are drugs that work by inhibiting the pro-survival activity of IAP proteins such as cIAP1 and cIAP2, which can be overexpressed in osteosarcomas.

Introduction: The role of cerebroplacental ratio (CPR) or umbilicocerebral ratio (UCR) to predict adverse intrapartum and perinatal outcomes in pregnancies complicated by late fetal growth restriction (FGR) remains controversial.

Methods: This was a multicenter, retrospective cohort study involving 5 referral centers in Italy and Spain, including singleton pregnancies complicated by late FGR, as defined by Delphi consensus criteria, with a scan 1 week prior to delivery. The primary objective was to compare the diagnostic accuracy of the CPR and UCR for the prediction of a composite adverse outcome, defined as the presence of either an adverse intrapartum outcome (need for operative delivery/cesarean section for suspected fetal distress) or an adverse perinatal outcome (intrauterine death, Apgar score <7 at 5 min, arterial pH <7.

Article Synopsis
  • Cerebroplacental Doppler studies aim to assess the risk of adverse perinatal outcomes (APO) in fetuses, focusing on cerebroplacental (CPR) and umbilicocerebral (UCR) ratios for both appropriate for gestational age (AGA) and late fetal growth restriction (FGR) cases.
  • A multicenter study involving 646 pregnancies analyzed the effectiveness of these Doppler ratios; it found that APO occurred more frequently in the late FGR group (24.3%) compared to the AGA group (12.6%).
  • The study concluded that CPR and UCR are not effective standalone predictors for APO, regardless of fetal weight, showing poor diagnostic performance in both AGA and

We present two experiments that examine structural priming in the single-trial phone-call paradigm introduced by Levelt and Kelter (Cognitive psychology, 14 (1), 78-106, 1982). Experimenters called businesses and asked either What time do you close? or At what time do you close? Participants were more likely to produce a prepositional response (At 7 o'clock vs. 7 o'clock) following a prepositional question than following a non-prepositional question.
