Early postoperative wound complications in revascularization procedures in the groin very often include complications associated with injury to the lymphatic system such as lymphocele and lymphorrhea with subsequent local infectious complications and the risk of infection of prosthetic grafts. Therefore, we aimed to identify simple models combining multiple echocardiography or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-derived indices and natriuretic peptides (BNP [brain natriuretic peptide] or NT-proBNP [N-terminnal pro-B type natriuretic peptide]) to predict early disease decompensation in asymptomatic severe AR.

Background: Vulnerable dialysis and kidney transplant patients show impaired seroconversion rates compared to medical personnel eight weeks after SARS-CoV-2mRNA vaccination.

Methods: We evaluated six months follow up data in our observational Dia-Vacc study exploring specific cellular (interferon-γ release assay) or/and humoral immune responses after 2x SARS-CoV-2mRNA vaccination in 1205 participants including medical personnel (125 MP), dialysis patients (970 DP) and kidney transplant recipients (110 KTR) with seroconversion ( IgA or IgG antibody positivity by ELISA) after eight weeks.

Findings: Six months after vaccination, seroconversion remained positive in 98% of MP, but 91%/87% of DP/KTR ( = 0·005), respectively.

Background: Dialysis and kidney transplant patients are vulnerable populations for COVID-19 related disease and mortality.

Methods: We conducted a prospective study exploring the eight week time course of specific cellular (interferon-γ release assay and flow cytometry) or/and humoral immune responses (ELISA) to SARS-CoV-2 boost vaccination in more than 3100 participants including medical personnel, dialysis patients and kidney transplant recipients using mRNA vaccines BNT162b2 or mRNA-1273.

Results: SARS-CoV-2-vaccination induced seroconversion efficacy in dialysis patients was similar to medical personnel (> 95%), but markedly impaired in kidney transplant recipients (42%).

Objectives: Ring annuloplasty reduces the septal-lateral diameter (SLD) indirectly by circumferential annular cinching and frequently results in the recurrence of mitral regurgitation (MR) in patients with functional MR (FMR). Our goal was to report the results from the trial and the 2-year post-trial surveillance data. We evaluated whether direct reduction of the SLD with a transannular mitral bridge could achieve significant and durable MR reduction in patients with FMR.

Here we report on the case of a 61-year-old female with an accidental finding of intravascular fasciitis (IVF) affecting the ascending aorta in a specimen resected due to an acute aortic dissection. No infiltrative process of the aorta or surrounding soft tissues was grossly apparent. Microscopically, the lesion had poorly defined margins and was composed of plump spindle- and oval-shaped cells set in an abundant myxoid stroma.

Care of patients with congenital heart diseases in Czech Republic does not have only important history, falling to the prewar period, but especially systematic and long-term work with excellent results in pediatric patients. With improvements in the care of these patients also improves their survival with the need for continuous care in adulthood including reoperation, catheter ablations incisional tachycardias and other specialized procedures in difficult heart morphology. The article is a reflection and an appeal to all responsible professionals, organizers and payers of health care, how to proceed and provide specialized training, continuity of care for these patients, including proposed organizational changes and outlines the need for further development in this important medical field.

CardioARM, a highly flexible "snakelike" medical robotic system (Medrobotics, Raynham, MA), has been developed to allow physicians to view, access, and perform complex procedures intrapericardially on the beating heart through a single-access port. Transthoracic epicardial catheter mapping and ablation has emerged as a strategy to treat arrhythmias, particularly ventricular arrhythmias, originating from the epicardial surface.
