Moderate hypothermia attenuates α-adrenoceptor-mediated contraction in human varicose spermatic vein: The role of nitric oxide(Short communication).

The effects of moderate hypothermia (28 °C) on the response of human varicose spermatic vein to α-adrenoceptor agonist phenylephrine and the role of endothelial nitric oxide (NO) in these effects were studied. Concentration-response curves for phenylephrine (10 to 3 × 10 M) were recorded in rings with and without endothelium at 37 and 28 °C. To further analyze the role of NO, in the response to phenylephrine during hypothermia, the effects of this agonist in the presence of N-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (10 M) were also determined.

Micropercutaneous nephrolithotomy (microperc) in a two-year-old with the 'all-seeing needle'.

This paper presents the use of the single-step micropercutaneous nephrolithotomy (microperc) procedure for the treatment of a 13-mm renal stone using a 4.85-Fr 'all-seeing needle' in a 2-year-old toddler. In the current literature to date, this is the youngest case.

Penile Kaposi's sarcomas in a circumcised and HIV-seronegative patient.

Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) limited to penis is rare and usually observed in AIDS patients. However, in circumcised and HIV-seronegative patients, KS confined to the penis is extremely rare. We present the case of an HIV-seronegative and circumcised 55-year-old man, who presented with two reddish papules, one 5 mm in diameter on the coronal sulcus near the frenulum, and the other 2 mm in diameter on the glans penis, which were reported as a Kaposi's sarcoma after excision of the lesion.

Prevalence of premature ejaculation in Turkish men with chronic pelvic pain syndrome.

Evaluation of chromosome 8 and 11 aneuploidies in washings and biopsy materials of bladder transitional cell carcinoma.

We compared chromosome 8 and 11 aneuploidies on bladder biopsy tumor tissues and bladder washing samples of transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) and their relationship to tumor malignancy. Interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) was applied to nuclei of washing material and biopsy samples of 17 patients with TCC. Incidence of cells having aneuploidy was clearly nonrandom from patient to patient.
