Introduction: During the study, the HAS (French Board of Health) recommended 3 options for the first test (C1) in case of presence of ASC-US: a smear to be carried out after 6 months, an HPV test or a colposcopy. Our main objective was to find out which C1 option was chosen. The secondary objectives were to evaluate the number of C1's carried out by general practitioners, the follow-up rate and that of adapted C1 smear reports.

Aim: In the event of an ASC-US Pap smear, colposcopy, 6-month Pap smear or screening for oncogenic HPV are recommended as first-line testing options by the French National Authority for Health -HAS. The primary objective of this study was to determine the preferred option chosen by general practitioners and to assess their follow-up care.

Methods: The Maine-et-Loire cancer screening database was used to extract 283 files of women, aged 25 to 65, in whom ASC-US Pap smear was performed by their general practitioners (GPs) in 2011.

The purpose of this study was to describe the anal lesions found in children during a pediatric gastroenterology consultation when the reason for the complaint was related to a digestive disease. This prospective descriptive study included 100 children under 15 years of age over a 13-month period, consulting due to digestive symptoms. The children were under 8 years old (90%) and 25% were under 3.

Introduction: We conducted a two-month prospective study (8,171 admissions) in the Angers university hospital emergency room to analyse the impact of the referral letter on the initial triage of patients admitted to the emergency room performed by the reception and triage nurse.

Methods: We analysed the level of priority of the CIMU triage scale (nurse's classification of emergency room patients), the presenting complaint, and the need for an urgent procedure before and after reading the referral letter and examined the nurse's comments for explanations concerning any triage changes.

Results: 1,516 patients arriving with a referral letter (18.

Pain is regarded as a risk factor in pressure ulcer development by contributing to immobility. Pressure-induced vasodilatation (PIV) is a mechanism whereby cutaneous blood flow increases in response to progressive locally applied pressure, thereby delaying the occurrence of ischaemia and appearing to be a protective response to local pressure. When the interaction between nervous and vascular systems is deregulated, PIV, which relies on both systems, is absent.

cAMP and cyclic GMP-dependent kinases (PKA and PKG) phosphorylate the small G protein RhoA on Ser188. We have previously demonstrated that phosphorylation of Ser188 inhibits RhoA-dependent functions and positively regulates RhoA expression, and that the nitric oxide (NO)/cGMP-dependent protein kinase pathway plays an essential role, both in vitro and in vivo, in the regulation of RhoA protein expression and functions in vascular smooth muscle cells. Here we analyze the consequences of Ser188 phosphorylation on RhoA protein degradation.

Background: We have previously shown that angiotensin II type 2 receptor (AT(2)R) stimulation causes endothelium-dependent vasodilation that does not desensitize after chronic angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R) blockade, suggesting a role for AT2R in antihypertensive treatment.

Methods And Results: We recorded mean arterial pressure (MAP) and investigated AT2R by Western blot analysis, immunohistochemistry, and function in isolated mesenteric resistance arteries (205 microm in diameter) from Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats and spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) receiving the following for 4 weeks in drinking water: placebo, AT1R blockade (candesartan; 2 mg/kg per day), ACE inhibitor (perindopril; 3 mg/kg per day), nonselective vasodilator (hydralazine; 16 or 24 mg/kg per day), or candesartan plus hydralazine (16 mg/kg per day). In precontracted isolated arteries, AT2R stimulation (angiotensin II in the presence of candesartan) caused vasodilation in WKY rats (MAP=118 mm Hg) and vasoconstriction in SHR (MAP=183 mm Hg).

Diamond is a unique semiconductor for the fabrication of electronic and opto-electronic devices because of its exceptional physical and chemical properties. However, a serious obstacle to the realization of diamond-based devices is the lack of n-type diamond with satisfactory electrical properties. Here we show that high-conductivity n-type diamond can be achieved by deuteration of particularly selected homo-epitaxially grown (100) boron-doped diamond layers.
