Background: Although the periorbital region forms less than 1% of the total body surface, it has a very complex anatomy; therefore, it requires a detailed approach. In this work, we aim to present the clinical applications and related literature for the algorithm of the technique which will be applied, according to the location of the defect, in choosing the surgery treatment method. Factors affecting the results and different treatment methods of the anatomical region, including its difficult reconstruction, will also be included.

Objective: The diagnosis and management of phyllodes tumors is challenging due to its low incidence. The treatment of these tumors is surgery, however the extent of surgery, the application of adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy are still controversial. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate patients who were treated with a diagnosis of phyllodes tumor of the breast in our clinic.

Reconstruction of facial organ and tissue losses using autogenous tissue is a permanent and effective method in plastic surgery. However, in cases where the patient's general condition does not allow for surgical reconstruction or where the patient is in need of reconstruction of complex organs such as the eye, nose, or ear, an epithesis can be considered as an alternative to treatment with autogenous tissue. The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting the success rate of facial reconstructions with an externally retained prosthesis in relation to the defect location and radiotherapy treatment.

Fine needle aspiration biopsy is the most feasible, safe, and accurate diagnostic tool for thyroid nodule diagnosis. The development of a sinus tract between thyroid gland and the skin through needle tract after fine needle aspiration biopsy is an extremely uncommon phenomenon. In this paper, a 71-year-old man presenting with a swelling and discharge on the anterior neck wall was reported.

Ischaemic preconditioning increases the survival of flaps. Random-pattern McFarlane dorsal flaps were raised in 30 female Wistar rats, which were divided into three groups. An ischaemic conditioning protocol with clamping of the pedicle was used.

Background: Reconstruction of large full-thickness defects of the upper eyelids is challenging because of their complex anatomy and specialized functions. The authors present and discuss a new, simple surgical technique for upper eyelid reconstruction. This is a single-stage procedure and has produced satisfactory to excellent results in the authors' patients.

Background: Treatment of recontractures that were previously skin grafted or treated with Z-plasty is a challenge. Application of a subsequent Z-plasty is risky because of the possibility of tip necrosis of the triangular flaps, whereas donor-site morbidity is undesirable if subsequent skin grafting is planned. The subcutaneous pedicle rhomboid flap is an effective technique for the treatment of every type of contracture.

Background: The knee region is a good free skin flap donor site, as it has minimal subcutaneous tissue and provides a hidden donor site. Acland et al. first used the skin over the medial side of the knee as a "saphenous flap" based on the saphenous branch of the descending genicular artery.

The treatment of total columellar defects is very difficult, and there is not any first choice in reconstruction of these defects. Various techniques have been reported for this purpose. Each technique has its own drawbacks, and few can be performed in one stage.

Objective: This study compares innervated and denervated flaps for the lower lip reconstruction in terms of oral sphincter function and sensation.

Study Design And Setting: A prospective trial.

Methods: This study was carried out on 31 patients with lower lip carcinoma.

Hypospadias fistula may be persistently recurrent in some patients. In distal hypospadiac fistula cases, carrying the fistulous opening to the glans tip may be possible with extensive urethral mobilization and advancement. In 9 patients who were operated for urethrocutaneous fistula, we used the urethral advancement technique.

Background: The most commonly used technique in the treatment of contracture bands is Z-plasty. The subcutaneous pedicle rhomboid flap is a relatively new flap whose efficiency in the treatment of wide or linear contractures with two or more contracture bands has been demonstrated. This experimental study was planned to compare the lengthening provided by the subcutaneous pedicle rhomboid flap with that provided by the Z-plasty.

The aim of this study is to assess the feasibility of rat penile replantation as a new microsurgical training model. The study was performed in 2 parts. ANATOMIC STUDIES: Fifteen Wistar albino rats were used to study and document the penile vascular anatomy.

Background: Free transfer of the medial arm flap has not gained popularity despite the hidden donor-site scar as well as the hairless and elastic skin. This may be because of variations in vascular anatomy, leading to confusion during dissection of the flap.

Methods: In five preserved cadaver arms, the vascular pattern of medial arm skin was examined.

Dorsum of the hand is an ideal skin-flap donor site for coverage of hand or finger defects. We elevated 8 reverse-flow first dorsal metacarpal artery flap in 9 patients for soft-tissue cover of index fingertip injuries distal to distal interphalangeal joint with exposed bone. In 3 patients, the digital branch of the superficial radial nerve was coapted to the digital nerve.

The free lateral arm flap may be harvested as a fascial, fasciocutaneous, or osteofasciocutaneous flap. Simultaneous flap elevation with preparation of the recipient site, easy dissection, minimal donor-site morbidity, and a constant vascular anatomy with long pedicle are advantages of the flap. In this study, the authors present 18 patients operated on between January, 2002 and August, 2003 in whom 18 free lateral arm flaps were utilized.

Background: Gynecomastia is enlargement of the male breast. Although treatment is not indicated in most cases, aesthetic reconstructive surgery is commonly performed for psychological reasons. The goals in surgical treatment are to restore the breast contour with minimal scar and to protect areolar anatomy and sensation.

Pharyngocutaneous fistulas after total laryngectomy are difficult to manage and are a cause for significant morbidity to the patient. When fistulas fail to close with conservative measures, debridement and flap closure are indicated. Although a number of techniques to repair pharyngocutaneous fistulas are described, each of these procedures has its drawbacks.

Purpose: To investigate the efficacy and versatility of subcutaneous pedicle rhomboid flap in the treatment of linear or wide postburn scar contractures located in various parts of the body.

Materials And Methods: Twenty-three patients (aged 5 to 35 years) with postburn linear and wide scar contractures were treated with 31 subcutaneous pedicle rhomboid flaps. Rhomboid flaps were applied in the trunk (4 flaps), head and neck (5 flaps), lower extremity (5 flaps), and upper extremity (17 flaps).

The subcutaneous pedicle rhomboid flap is a relatively new technique in the treatment of linear, wide or quadratic postburn scar contractures with two or more contracture lines. The effectiveness of the rhomboid flap depends on lengthening the contracture band by relaxation incisions and closing the emerged defect by suturing the rhomboid flap in V-Y and Y-V advancement. The technique is simple, efficient and versatile.
