Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) is an autosomal recessive multisystem disorder showing phenotypic heterogeneity giving rise to complex comorbidities. The most 'visible' signs are dermatological; however, these may be subtle and hidden from the view of an affected individual. Ophthalmic signs can be easily missed, and here we highlight the importance of a multisystem assessment.

This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and anatomical characteristics of Zuckerkandl's tubercle by combining cadaveric dissection with a meta-analysis.
Methods: Through October 2016, an extensive search of PubMed, CNKI, ScienceDirect, EMBASE, BIOSIS, SciELO, and Web of Science was completed.
