Background: A greater percentage of surgical procedures are being performed each year on patients 65 years of age or older. Concurrently, a growing proportion of patients in English-speaking countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada have a language other than English (LOE) preference. We aimed to measure whether patients with LOE underwent cognitive screening at the same rates as their English-speaking counterparts when routine screening was instituted.

Introduction: Here, we propose a novel modified Carba NP test for detecting KPC-producing Enterobacterales using imipenem/relebactam.

Material And Methods: The test performance was evaluated in a random selection of 160 previously molecularly characterized clinical isolates carrying the 110 bla, 1 bla, 12 bla, 4 bla, 3 bla and 42 bla genes. The proposed method relies on the detection of imipenem hydrolysis in an imipenem/relebactam antibiotic solution and subsequent visual interpretation by color change.

Background: The wide spectrum of antitumoral mechanisms of imiquimod (IMQ), made it a good candidate for topical therapy of melanoma. However, physicochemical properties make IMQ formulation a difficult task. Solubility and skin penetration of IMQ are increased when loaded into ultradeformable nanovesicles.

Objectives: Development of an automated MALDI-TOF MS-based method for the rapid, direct detection of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae in clinical urine samples within 90 min of sample reception.

Methods: A total of 3041 urine samples were processed by flow cytometry, and a cut-off value of ≥1.5 × 10 5 bacteria/mL was used to select samples for the study.

Shark fishery is one of the most important activities in the Mexican Pacific coast, nevertheless, there is few data available about the specific captures done by the fleet along the coast. This study describes fishery biology aspects of the shark species catched by the semi-industrial long-line fleet of Manzanillo. Monthly samplings were made on board of these vessels during an annual period from April 2006 to April 2007.

ArcA is a global regulator that switches on the expression of fermentation genes and represses the aerobic pathways when Escherichia coli enters low oxygen growth conditions. The metabolic profile of E. coli CT1062 (DeltaarcA)and CT1061 (arcA2) grown in microaerobiosis with glycerol as carbon source were determined and compared with E.
