Article Synopsis
  • Early exposure to cardiovascular risk factors can lead to inflammation and damage to blood vessel linings, resulting in thicker carotid intima-media, which is a concerning health indicator.
  • The study focused on 129 prepubertal children aged 5 to 10 years to analyze the relationship between certain cardiovascular risk factors and carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT).
  • Findings revealed that higher body mass index (BMI) and systolic blood pressure (SBP) significantly correlated with increased cIMT, making them key risk factors in early cardiovascular health.
