Innovations strategy for moving from created regional clusters to co-creation in life sciences for health care and well-being ecosystems.

Over the last decades, the demographic changes have all altered the population structure and influenced the social, economic, and political characteristics of countries over the world. Therefore, the creation of novel ecosystems, new clusters and systems which involved technology and industry, business, education, science, and innovation are increased rapidly. However, in order to solve the future global challenges, the created various types of clusters, public and private sector systems should cooperate and work together as a unit.

Bone cement extracts modulate the osteoprotegerin/osteoprotegerin-ligand expression in MG63 osteoblast-like cells.

The osteoprotegerin-ligand (OPG-L) has been identified as the essential factor required for osteoclastogenesis, and its effects are prevented by the osteoprotegerin (OPG). The OPG-L/OPG balance plays a crucial role in coordinating the sequence of osteoclast and osteoblast differentiation during the bone remodeling. The aim of the study was to investigate if polymethylmethacrylate-based cements are able to modulate the expression of OPG-L/OPG in MG63 cells, which are known to have high levels of OPG and inducible expression of OPG-L.

Effectiveness of insulin-like growth factor I receptor antisense strategy against Ewing's sarcoma cells.

The insulin-like growth factor I receptor (IGF-IR) plays an essential role in the establishment and maintenance of transformed phenotype of Ewing's sarcoma (ES) cells, and interference with the IGF-IR pathways by a neutralizing antibody causes reversal of the malignant potential of this neoplasm. In this paper, we stably transfected an IGF-IR antisense mRNA expression plasmid in an ES cell line to determine the effectiveness of antisense strategies against the in vitro and in vivo growth of ES cells. Doxorubicin sensitivity of TC-71 cells expressing antisense targeted to IGF-IR mRNA was also examined.
