Background: Multi-ingredient pre-workout dietary supplements (MIPS), which are combinations of different ingredients acting on different physiological mechanisms, can have a synergistic effect and improve performance. The aim of the study was to determine the acute effects of a multi-ingredient pre-workout supplement containing: beta-alanine, taurine, caffeine, L-tyrosine, and cayenne pepper (capsaicin) on anaerobic performance.

[Injury of Medial Structures in Ankle Fractures - Epidemiological Aspects and Outcomes of Treatment].

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY Ankle fractures are characterised by a high variability of damage to bone and ligament structures which leads to diverse clinical conditions. This study aims to analyse a group of patients with surgically treated ankle fractures, with a focus on evaluating the outcomes of treatment of ankle joint medial structure injuries (medial malleolar fracture, ligament lesions). Human decision making involving many alternatives is encumbered with inconsistent prioritization. Although inconsistency is assumed to grow with the number of comparisons, it is shown to be reduced by conscious awareness under certain conditions. This study experimentally investigated the effect of repeating a criteria ranking task on inconsistency scores as measured by four different inconsistency coefficients.

A DNA structural alphabet provides new insight into DNA flexibility.

DNA is a structurally plastic molecule, and its biological function is enabled by adaptation to its binding partners. To identify the DNA structural polymorphisms that are possible in such adaptations, the dinucleotide structures of 60 000 DNA steps from sequentially nonredundant crystal structures were classified and an automated protocol assigning 44 distinct structural (conformational) classes called NtC (for Nucleotide Conformers) was developed. To further facilitate understanding of the DNA structure, the NtC were assembled into the DNA structural alphabet CANA (Conformational Alphabet of Nucleic Acids) and the projection of CANA onto the graphical representation of the molecular structure was proposed.

We analyzed the structural behavior of DNA complexed with regulatory proteins and the nucleosome core particle (NCP). The three-dimensional structures of almost 25 thousand dinucleotide steps from more than 500 sequentially non-redundant crystal structures were classified by using DNA structural alphabet CANA (Conformational Alphabet of Nucleic Acids) and associations between ten CANA letters and sixteen dinucleotide sequences were investigated. The associations showed features discriminating between specific and non-specific binding of DNA to proteins.

Background: There is a growing number of studies indicating the major consequences of the subjective perception of well-being on mental health and healthcare use. However, most of the cognitive training research focuses more on the preservation of cognitive function than on the implications of the state of well-being. This secondary analysis of data from a randomised controlled trial investigated the effects of individualised television-based cognitive training on self-rated well-being using the WHO-5 index while considering gender and education as influencing factors.

Radiocarbon concentration in tree-ring samples collected in the south-west Slovakia (1974-2013).

Radiocarbon measurements of tree-ring samples collected in Vysoká pri Morave were compared with tree-ring data of the Žlkovce monitoring station situated 5km south-east from the Jaslovské Bohunice Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). Radiocarbon concentrations in Vysoká pri Morave and in Žlkovce tree rings were decreasing exponentially with decay constants of 14.48±1.
