Background: Many untrue statements about cancer prevention and risks are circulating. The objective of this study was to assess Canadians' awareness of known cancer risk factors and cancer myths (untruths or statements that are not completely true), and to explore how awareness may vary by sociodemographic and cognitive factors.
Methods: Cancer myths were identified by conducting scans of published, grey literature, and social media.

Aims: To evaluate salivary levels of the proinflammatory cytokine interleukin-1β (IL-1β) in patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD), fibromyalgia, or both conditions in comparison to healthy individuals.
Methods: A total of 69 females (18 to 84 years of age) were assigned to one of four groups: (A) healthy controls (n = 27); (B) TMD only (n = 18); (C) fibromyalgia only (n = 15); and (D) fibromyalgia plus TMD (n = 9). Clinical data and salivary IL-1β levels were evaluated.

The sequencing of bimaxillary orthognathic surgery remains controversial, although the traditional maxilla-first approach is performed routinely. The goal of this study was to present a systematic review of the mandible-first sequence in bimaxillary orthognathic surgery, to provide data that may assist in the decision as to which jaw should undergo osteotomy first in bimaxillary orthognathic surgery cases. A literature search was conducted for articles published in the English language, reporting the use of the altered sequence for bimaxillary orthognathic surgery (mandible-first), using the following descriptors: 'orthognathic' and 'double-jaw', 'orthognathic' and 'two-jaw', 'orthognathic' and 'mandible-first', 'orthognathic' and 'bimaxillary'.

Mandibular position is an important parameter used for the diagnosis of dentofacial deformities, as well as for orthognathic surgery planning and execution. Centric relation (anterior and superior relationship of the mandibular condyles interposed by the thinnest portion of their disks against the articular eminencies), centric occlusion (when lower teeth contact upper teeth at centric relation), and maximal intercuspation (complete interdigitation of lower and upper teeth) are not often addressed as factors that influence the results of orthognathic surgery, although these relationships are critical to ensure accuracy during the surgery. The present study assessed occlusal measurements taken before and after the induction of general anaesthesia from consecutive orthognathic surgery subjects.

Study Aims: Autonomic changes, especially those of sympathetic skin responses (SSR), during sequential water swallowing (SWS) have not been systematically investigated. This study aims to electrophysiologically examine these autonomic changes (SSR and heart rate) that occur during 50 ml sequential water swallowing from a cup.
Materials And Methods: Fifty-eight normal healthy adults were included in the study.
Objectives: Neurologic problems have a major effect on the survival and quality of life in renal transplant recipients. This study sought to review the incidence and character of neurologic complications after renal transplant.
Materials And Methods: Medical records of 319 renal transplant recipients admitted to the Transplant Outpatient Clinic were reviewed retrospectively for neurologic complications.
Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the quality of life (QoL) in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), and to evaluate its association with disability and psychosocial factors especially depression and fatigue.
Methods: Demographic characteristics, education level, disease severity, and disease duration were documented for each patient. QoL, fatigue level, cognitive status, and depression level of patients were assessed by Multiple Sclerosis Quality of Life-54, Fatigue Severity Scale, Mini Mental State Scale, and Beck Depression Inventory, respectively.

Objectives: The small heat shock protein, HSP27, has been shown to have a more potent protective effect in the nervous system. However, there is limited information about the behavior of HSP27 in the course of multiple sclerosis (MS). Thus, we investigated the HSP27 levels during relapse and remission phases of MS.

She was receiving high dose corticosteroids, azathioprine 200mg daily and high dose intravenous immunoglobulin during relapses. Two months after thymectomy she presented with progressive cognitive decline, asymmetric quadriparesis and ataxia.

Methods: Subjects were recruited from a factory of 650 workers and assessed by means of history, physical examination and electrophysiological testing.
The most common cause avascular osteonecrosis (AVN) is corticosteroid medication. However, the impact of pulse steroid therapy on AVN development is not known properly. We intended to investigate the effect of this therapy on AVN development in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients.
