We assessed the impact of DNA damage response and repair (DDR) biomarker expressions in 222 node-positive early breast cancer (BC) patients from a previous Phase III GOIM 9902 trial of adjuvant taxanes. At a median follow-up of 64 months, the original study showed no disease-free survival (DFS) or overall survival (OS) differences with the addition of docetaxel (D) to epirubicine-cyclophosphamide (EC). Immunohistochemistry was employed to assess the expression of DDR phosphoproteins (pATM, pATR, pCHK1, γH2AX, pRPA32, and pWEE1) in tumor tissue, and their association with clinical outcomes was evaluated through the Cox elastic net model.

HER2 activating mutations have emerged as oncogenic drivers and therapeutic targets in a variety of human tumors. Purpose Of Review: Infections are common complications in critically ill patients and are frequently treated with antibiotics. Unfortunately, delivery of optimal therapy is complicated because efficacy of antimicrobials is influenced by the timing of treatment initiation, the use of combination therapy, and the optimization of drug dosing.

Myocarditis seems to be mostly caused by a viral infection or more rarely by a pharmacological hypersensitivity or by radiations exposure. Nevertheless, it is not so easy to know the ethiopathogenesis of the myocarditis, because mostly it is impossible to determine the infectious agent that causes the pathology even if it is isolated. The diagnosis could often remain uncertain, so a suspect of myocarditis has to be opportunely confirmed by specific serological and diagnostic investigations, in order to avoid the appearance of a dilated cardiomyopathy which is one of its principal sequences.
