Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is a widespread pathogen of cattle and other mammals that causes major economic losses in the livestock industry. N4-TSC and 6NO-TSC are two thiosemicarbazones derived from 1-indanone that exhibit anti-BVDV activity in vitro. These compounds selectively inhibit BVDV and are effective against both cytopathic and non-cytopathic BVDV-1 and BVDV-2 strains.

As part of a Horizon Europe research project on health innovation next generation pricing and payment models (HI-PRIX), this protocol illustrates the conceptual and methodological steps related to a scoping review aiming at investigating nature and scope of pricing and payment/reimbursement schemes applied to, or proposed for, existing or new health technologies.
Methods: A scoping review of literature will be performed according to the PRISMA guidelines for scoping reviews (PRISMA-ScR) guidelines.
Despite the huge importance that the centrality metrics have in understanding the topology of a network, too little is known about the effects that small alterations in the topology of the input graph induce in the norm of the vector that stores the node centralities. If so, then it could be possible to avoid re-calculating the vector of centrality metrics if some minimal changes occur in the network topology, which would allow for significant computational savings. Hence, after formalising the notion of centrality, three of the most basic metrics were herein considered (i.

Since the late 20th century, the discovery of the first susceptibility gene (NOD2, previously referred to as CARD15) for CD has paved the way for further investigations into the correlations between clinical features and genetics, and its potential impact on clinical practice has fueled the research in the last 2 decades. Recent therapeutic advancements involving novel biologic drugs and small molecules have shifted inflammatory bowel disease management from a disease-centered to a patient-centric approach.

Accident database are the basic resource for risk assessment methods to help decision-makers to enact strategies and undergo hazard and vulnerability mitigation measures. Understanding ship accidents distribution in terms of involved GT, typical age of the affected vessels, category of the ships, as well as distribution of underlying causes and consequences is the first necessary step to improve accident mitigation actions to be implemented for future assessments.

Background And Objective: Many developed and non-developed countries worldwide suffer from cancer-related fatal diseases. In particular, the rate of breast cancer in females increases daily, partially due to unawareness and undiagnosed at the early stages. A proper first breast cancer treatment can only be provided by adequately detecting and classifying cancer during the very early stages of its development.

Despite this, standard guidelines are still missing to achieve an optimal foot design in terms of performances. One of the most important design parameters in ESAR feet is the Rollover Shape (RoS).

In this paper we analyze nine real criminal networks of different nature (i.e.

In spite of the availability of vaccines, the virus is still causing substantial financial losses to the livestock industry. In this context, the use of antiviral agents could be an alternative strategy to control and reduce viral infections.

Methods: Pregnant rats were divided into four groups with different dietary iron concentrations: standard (40mg/kg), supplementation (100mg/kg), restriction since weaning, and restriction only during pregnancy (4mg/kg). After birth, the offspring were assigned to their respective groups (Standard Offspring, Supplementation Offspring, Restriction Offspring or Restriction Offspring 2).
Compared to other types of social networks, criminal networks present particularly hard challenges, due to their strong resilience to disruption, which poses severe hurdles to Law-Enforcement Agencies (LEAs). Herein, we borrow methods and tools from Social Network Analysis (SNA) to (i) unveil the structure and organization of Sicilian Mafia gangs, based on two real-world datasets, and (ii) gain insights as to how to efficiently reduce the Largest Connected Component (LCC) of two networks derived from them. Mafia networks have peculiar features in terms of the links distribution and strength, which makes them very different from other social networks, and extremely robust to exogenous perturbations.

Objective: To adapt the Spinal Cord Injury Secondary Conditions Scale (SCI-SCS) to Italian and to assess the validity and reliability of this instrument.
Setting: Multicentre study in outpatient clinics of three urban spinal units across Italy.
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate trends in hospitalizations and outcomes of acute pancreatitis (AP) according to first admitting hospital unit and hospital volumes.
Methods: Hospital discharge records of patients with AP admitted in the Veneto Region (Northeast Italy) during the period 2001-2015 were examined.
Results: A total of 23,389 patients (54% males; mean age, 62.
In this study, the environmental impact of strawberry production in Italy and Switzerland was evaluated using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach. The main differences between the two countries are the cultivation practices: crop cycle duration (1 year in Switzerland and 2 or 3 years in Italy), soil management and cultivation in open and protected fields. For all the environmental impact categories evaluated with LCA, strawberry production in Switzerland shows higher impacts respect to the Italian production.

The use of antivirals could complement vaccination as a tool of control and reduce economic losses. The RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) of the virus is essential for its genome replication and constitutes an attractive target for the identification of antivirals.

Objectives: Even though caregiver burden (CB) represents a well-recognised concern among caregivers of people with a spinal cord injury (SCI), there are no specific questionnaires designed for its evaluation. This study aimed to assess the psychometric properties of the Caregiver Burden Inventory in Spinal Cord Injury (CBI-SCI), which was modified from its original version, and specifically its construct and reliability.
Background And Study Aims: Colorectal cancer (CRC) screening with biennial fecal occult blood test has been shown to reduce CRC mortality. For the effectiveness of the CRC screening program is crucial that a high-quality colonoscopy with a high adenoma detection rate (ADR) be performed. To improve ADR, various endoscopic devices have been developed.

Researchers are emotionally and psychologically affected by emotionally demanding research that demands a tremendous amount of mental, emotional, or physical energy and potentially affects or depletes the researcher's well-being. Little attention has been given to preparing doctoral students and novice researchers engaged in such studies. Four possible types of emotionally demanding research experiences are presented: sensitive issues, personal trauma previously experienced, experience of traumatic life events during research, and unexpected events that arise during research in what was previously not identified as a sensitive issue.
