Symptom assessment related to the menstrual cycle to predict endometriosis and adenomyosis in university students.

Objective: To assess the prevalence of self-reported symptoms of endometriosis and adenomyosis among university students and identify potential predictors of these diseases among these symptoms.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at a private university in northeastern Brazil. The students were asked to complete an electronic questionnaire using a Google Form link.

Reproductive failures, such as recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) and recurrent implantation failures (RIF) are a major challenge for reproductive medicine. The current management of RPL and RIF cases identifies some causes for unsuccessful pregnancy in up to half of patients. Several studies have suggested that immune disorders are responsible for an important portion of unexplained cases of RPL and RIF.

Myocardial Infarction with ST Elevation and Reperfusion Therapy in Brazil: Data from the ACCEPT Registry.

Background: There is a lack of information from Brazil regarding therapies used and outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndrome with ST elevation (STEMI).

Objectives: To evaluate evidence-based therapies, occurrence of outcomes, reperfusion use, and predictors of not receiving reperfusion in patients with STEMI in a national multicenter registry.

Methods: Patients with STEMI from the ACCEPT registry, with up to 12 hours of symptoms, were followed for 1 year for the occurrence of major adverse cardiovascular events.

Background: The aim of the present study was to describe the structure of the collagen matrix and the microvascularization of the medial meniscotibial ligament (MMTL), in order to contribute to the refinement of the surgical technique for repairing these structures and consequently lead to a reduction in the risk of anterior cruciate ligament re-rupture.

Methods: Twelve MMTLs were obtained from deceased organ donors. The ligaments were initially analyzed macroscopically and evaluated histologically using hematoxylin and eosin staining.

Eplingiella fruticosa (EF) has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which may be beneficial against AD.

Quality of information on fertility clinic websites accredited by the Latin American Network of Assisted Reproduction.

Objective: To access to reproductive health information on the Internet helps patients understand their infertility journey and make decisions about their treatment. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of fertility clinic websites accredited by the Latin American Network for Assisted Reproduction (REDLARA) using the QUality Evaluation Scoring Tool (QUEST).

Methods: This observational, cross-sectional, and online study evaluated the clinic websites registered as accredited centers on the REDLARA website.

Home care service for children/adolescents with special health care needs: family perception.

Objective: To apprehend the family's perception of the care provided by home care services to children and adolescents with special health needs.

Method: Qualitative, exploratory-descriptive study, carried out with 15 family members of children and adolescents with special health needs served by Home Care Services in seven municipalities in Paraíba, in 2021, selected from nine municipalities identified by previous studies. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews carried out remotely through telephone calls.

TOP2DFVT: An Efficient Matlab Implementation for Topology Optimization based on the Finite-Volume Theory.

The finite-volume theory has shown to be numerically efficient and stable for topology optimization of continuum elastic structures. The significant features of this numerical technique are the local satisfaction of equilibrium equations and the employment of compatibility conditions along edges in a surface-averaged sense. These are essential properties to adequately mitigate some numerical instabilities in the gradient version of topology optimization algorithms, such as checkerboard, mesh dependence, and local minima issues.

Objectives: This study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of research on endometriosis and infertility, focusing on the 100 most cited (TOP100) articles in the literature.

Design: Bibliometric Analysis Participants/Materials, Setting, Methods: The SCOPUS database was searched using the terms "endometriosis" and "infertility." The productivity and impact of research publications by authors, countries, and journals were assessed using the following indicators: total number of publications (TNP), total number of citations (TNC), JIF, and JCI.

Analysis of the Biomechanical Behavior of an Animal Model of Triple Hamstring Graft Configuration for Combined ACL and ALL Reconstruction with a Single Femoral Tunnel and a Single Strand for ALL Reconstruction.

 To describe and biomechanically test a configuration, in an animal model that simulates the triple hamstring graft for combined anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and anterolateral ligament (ALL) reconstruction, with a single femoral tunnel and a single strand for ALL reconstruction.  Deep flexor porcine tendons were used as the graft and fixed with titanium interference screws in a polyurethane block. The samples were divided into 3 groups: group 1 (control) - with a quadruple graft; group 2-with a simple triple graft; and group 3-with a braided triple graft.

Droughts are becoming more intense and frequent in the Brazilian semiarid because of El Niño and global climate changes. The Jaguaribe River estuary is a semiarid ecosystem that experiences a reduction in freshwater discharges due to droughts and river damming. The decrease in freshwater fluxes has increased metal availability through the water residence time increase in the Jaguaribe River estuary.

Association between branched-chain amino acids and renal function in the ELSA-Brasil study.

Background & Aims: Epidemiologic studies show high circulating Branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) are associated with excess body weight, impaired fasting glucose, insulin resistance, high blood pressure, and dyslipidemia. There is scarce data on the association between renal function and circulating levels of BCAA. Therefore, we aim to study this association in a sample of the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adults (ELSA-Brasil) METHODS: We analyzed participants who had at the baseline BCAA: valine, isoleucine, and leucine measured through nuclear magnetic resonance.

Religion and sociodemographic characteristics at baseline of the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adult Health study.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate whether sex, age, race, income, education, and marital status are associated with having a religion in a sample of Brazilian men and women.

Methods: Data were obtained from 15,098 participants of the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adult Health, a longitudinal study that ultimately aims to investigate long-term outcomes of chronic diseases. The sociodemographic characteristics and data on religion status were self-reported during interviews conducted by trained personnel.

Zein nanoparticles containing ceftazidime and tobramycin: antibacterial activity against Gram-negative bacteria.

This work describes the encapsulation of ceftazidime and tobramycin in zein nanoparticles (ZNPs) and the characterization of their antibacterial and antibiofilm activities against Gram-negative bacteria. ZNPs were synthesized by nanoprecipitation. Cytotoxicity was assessed by MTT assay and antibacterial and antibiofilm assays were performed by broth microdilution and violet crystal techniques.

Hemoparasite Analysis and Hematological Parameters of Four Freshwater Turtle Species (Testudines: Podocnemididae) from the Brazilian Amazon.

Methods: Sampling was performed at three sites in the Tapajós River mouth, Pará State, Brazil, and an aliquot of blood was collected from each turtle by post-occipital dorsal vein puncture. The aliquots were used for the determination of hematological parameters and for the study of hemoparasites in the blood samples.

Urea Hydrogen Peroxide and Ethyl Lactate, an Eco-Friendly Combo System in the Direct C(sp)-H Bond Selenylation of Imidazo[2,1-]thiazole and Related Structures.

Herein, we describe a urea hydrogen peroxide-mediated sustainable protocol for the synthesis of selenylated imidazo[2,1-]thiazole by using half molar equivalent diorganyl diselenides in ethyl lactate as a greener solvent. The reaction features high yields, easy performance on gram scale, metal-free conditions, as well as applicability to imidazopyridine and imidazopyrimidine.

Mandibular reconstruction with TMJ prosthesis: management of osteomyelitis after orthognathic surgery (Case Report).

This case report presents a mandible reconstruction with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) prothesis for treatment of osteomyelitis infection following a bimaxillary orthognathic and genioplasty surgeries. The patient, a 41-year-old female, presented with facial pain, difficulty in opening her mouth, and mandibular deviation four months after the initial orthognathic surgery. During the four months, the patient had experienced two more surgerys post-operative for treatment of the complications.
