ZnO nanoparticles functionalized with APTES were obtained to evaluate their CH and CO adsorption at 298 K in a range between 0 and 10 bar. First, ZnO nanoparticles were obtained by a precipitation method and subsequently coated with (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES). As a preliminary study, the results were compared with previously reported naked nanoparticles in order to evaluate the influence of APTES coating on CO selectivity.

The impact of religiousness on quality of life and depressive symptoms has also been poorly studied in this population. This study investigated the correlation between religiousness and quality of life in patients with IPD.

Capsulotomy with neodymium-doped yttriumaluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG) laser is an effective treatment for posterior capsule opacification following cataract surgery. A wide opening of the posterior capsule associated with the ruptured anterior hyaloid can cause anterior chamber vitreous prolapse. Two patients who developed angle-closure glaucoma associated with vitreous prolapse following Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy were successfully treated with antiglaucoma medication and peripheral iridotomies.

Formaldehyde (FA) is a highly toxic substance present in many matrices, including freshwater as well as found in natural mechanisms such as rainfall and combustion of organic matter. Consumption of water contaminated with high levels of FA can cause severe short-term or long-term health problems. Due to these health risks, procedures are necessary to determine and quantify FA in aqua sources This paper reports on a study of fluorimetric determination of FA using a nickel(2 + )-diketonate coordination compound immobilized as a solid precursor.

This study conducted a detailed examination of Nellore beef, focusing on two categories based on ultimate pH (pHu) levels: intermediate (pHu ≥ 5.8) and normal (pHu < 5.

Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) has been suggested as an indirect marker of tumor density and cellularity and could be used to monitor therapeutic response. However, its role in pediatric GCTs needs to be clarified.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of pHu ranges [normal (≤5.79), intermediate (5.

Analyzing severe maternal outcomes (SMO) has been a major approach for evaluating the quality of the obstetric care provided, since the morbid events that lead to maternal death generally occur in sequence. The objective of this study was to analyze the clinical profile, management, maternal outcomes and factors associated with SMO in women who developed PPH and were admitted to an obstetric intensive care unit (ICU) in northeastern Brazil.

Children with cancer are vulnerable to sarcopenia which has been recognized as a negative impact of anticancer therapy. Recent studies have highlighted the reduction in the total psoas muscle area (TPMA) to be associated with a poor prognosis in many pediatric diseases, including cancer.

A major limitation in pre-clinical studies is the scarcity of valid animal models that accurately mimic these challenges. Among the available models, administration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to pregnant females is a widely used paradigm.

Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted from June to August 2020 at Gonzaga Mota of Messejana Hospital, Fortaleza, CE, Brazil. All pregnant women were screened for coronavirus disease 2019 based on symptoms.
Dysregulated natural killer (NK) cells have been associated with recurrent miscarriages (RM). Studies have suggested that high peripheral blood NK cell cytotoxicities (pNKCs) are associated with an increased risk of RM. The aim of this systematic review (SR) and meta-analysis (MAs) is to investigate the difference in pNKC between nonpregnant and pregnant women with RM and controls and determine whether pNKC is reduced by immunotherapy.

Sudden cardiac death (SCD) represents one of the leading causes of death worldwide and affects approximately 65% of ChHD patients at a rate of 24 per 1000 patient-years, much greater than the SCD rate in the general population.

The crystal structure of the HL and the Ni(II) complexes has been elucidated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The obtained structure from HL confirms the cyclization reaction and formation of the pyrazoline derivative.

Monitoring oxidative status is an early and valuable means of obesity control as it is a marker of weight loss, which leads to a reduction in oxidative status or injury potential. The objective of this study was to investgate the changes in the concentrations of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) and symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA) in obese female dogs subjected to an 8-week weight-loss program.

Irinotecan is a frontline chemotherapeutic agent that has dose-limiting side effects that compromise its therapeutic potential. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a novel, targeted drug delivery system with high therapeutic efficacy and an improved safety profile.

Single crystal X-ray analyzes showed distorted square planar geometry to the metal centers, which tridentate ligands coordinated by the NNS system and an additional halogen (Cl or Br) to complete the coordination sphere. Mass spectrometry data indicated the presence of [Cu(L)(DMF)] and [Cu(L)(DMF)], due to the exchanging of chloride/bromide ions and characteristic fragmentations of the compounds.

Characterized as a neglected disease, Chagas disease is an infection that, in the current scenario, affects about 8 million people per year, with a higher incidence in underdeveloped countries, Chagas is responsible for physiological disabilities that result in impacts that are slightly reflected in world socioeconomic stability. Although treatments are based on drugs such as Benznidazole, the pathology lacks a continuous treatment method with low toxicological incidence. The present study estimates the anti-chagasic activity of the synthetic chalcone CPN2F based on the alignment between in vitro tests and structural classification in silico studies, molecular docking and ADMET studies.

Most pediatric patients with COVID-19 have mild course; however, a small number progressed to acute respiratory distress syndrome, hypoxemia, despite optimized conventional therapies. Thus, this study aimed to report a series of six cases of children with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection who were supported by extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) due to refractory hypoxemic respiratory failure.
