ZnO nanoparticles functionalized with APTES were obtained to evaluate their CH and CO adsorption at 298 K in a range between 0 and 10 bar. First, ZnO nanoparticles were obtained by a precipitation method and subsequently coated with (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES). As a preliminary study, the results were compared with previously reported naked nanoparticles in order to evaluate the influence of APTES coating on CO selectivity.

Dithiocarbazate ligands and their Ni(II) complexes with potential biological activity: Structural, antitumor and molecular docking study.

In the search for new metal complexes with antitumor potential, two dithiocarbazate ligands derived from 1,1,1-trifluoro-2,4-pentanedione (HL) and (HL) and four Ni(II) complexes, [Ni(L)PPh] (1), [Ni(L)Py] (2), [Ni(L)PPh] (3), and [Ni(L)Py] (4), were successfully synthesized and investigated by physical-chemistry and spectroscopic methods. The crystal structure of the HL and the Ni(II) complexes has been elucidated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The obtained structure from HL confirms the cyclization reaction and formation of the pyrazoline derivative.

Comparative investigation of Cu(II) complexes with dithiocarbazate: Structural design, theoretical calculation, and in vitro antitumor activity.

The present work reports the synthesis and investigation by semi-empirical Density Functional Theory (DFT), physical chemistry, and spectroscopic methods of two dithiocarbazates, 2-acetylpyridine-S-p-bromobenzyl-dithiocarbazate (HL) and 2-acetylpyridine-S-p-nitrobenzyl-dithiocarbazate (HL) and their Cu(II) complexes, [Cu(L)Cl] (1), [Cu(L)Br] (2), [Cu(L)Cl] (3) and [Cu(L)Br] (4). Single crystal X-ray analyzes showed distorted square planar geometry to the metal centers, which tridentate ligands coordinated by the NNS system and an additional halogen (Cl or Br) to complete the coordination sphere. Mass spectrometry data indicated the presence of [Cu(L)(DMF)] and [Cu(L)(DMF)], due to the exchanging of chloride/bromide ions and characteristic fragmentations of the compounds.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation support in children with severe coronavirus disease-2019: A case series.

Background: The coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has predominantly affected the adult population, but with a significantly lower prevalence in children. Most pediatric patients with COVID-19 have mild course; however, a small number progressed to acute respiratory distress syndrome, hypoxemia, despite optimized conventional therapies. Thus, this study aimed to report a series of six cases of children with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection who were supported by extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) due to refractory hypoxemic respiratory failure.
