Primary Carcinosarcoma of the Spleen: A Rare Case Report of Incidental Finding after Splenic Trauma.

Primary carcinosarcoma of the spleen is a rare, aggressive splenic malignancy. To date, seven cases have been reported in the literature. We report a first case of primary carcinosarcoma of the spleen in France.

Meckel Diverticulum Causing Intestinal Volvulus.

Intestinal volvulus is rare and responsible for upper bowel obstruction. They occur more frequently in a patient with abdominal surgery history. We report a case of small intestine volvulus on Meckel diverticulum, which occurred in a 21-year-old patient, with no history of laparotomy.

Iodine is an essential element for thyroid hormone synthesis. Iodine disorders induced biological and/to clinical expression of thyroid dysfunction. Inappropriate iodine intake (by default or by excess) is worrying in terms of public health in France regarding the iodine deficiency and the frequency of iatrogen iodine overloads.

[The role of subtotal/total colectomy in the urgent treatment of obstructive cancer of the left colon].

Purpose: The aim of the study was to evaluate the results of management of acutely obstructed carcinoma of the left colon by emergency subtotal/total colectomy (STC) with immediate anastomosis without diversion.

Methods: STC was performed in 48 patients (mean age 72 years). Inclusion criteria were reasonable operative risk, resectable acutely obstructed carcinoma, massively-distended colon of dubious viability, signs of impending cecal perforation.
