Introduction: Although uncommon in dentistry, the concept of the life cycle holds great importance for dental professionals in identifying crucial intervention opportunities and determining the optimal timing for treatments and procedures.
Objective: To carry out a review of the literature on life cycle classifications and their distinct phases, evaluating their applicability in healthcare.
Methods: A literature review was performed, searching for articles in PubMed, SciELO, National Health Library (BvB), and Google Scholar databases, as well as relevant books.

Aims And Objectives: To perform a bibliometric study to identify and evaluate articles associated with "orthodontic wires" indexed in six databases (PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, Scopus, Lilacs, and Google Scholar) from 2010 to 2022.
Materials And Methods: The search strategy in PubMed combined different medical subject heading terms with free-text words and was adjusted for each selected database. The retrieved documents were original English articles containing the keywords used in the search strategies related to orthodontic wires.
Background: The influence of the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP)-14 administration method through telephone or face-to-face interviews in orthosurgical patients is unknown. The study aims to assess the reliability of the OHIP-14 questionnaire through its stability and internal consistency when applied through a telephone interview compared with a face-to-face interview.
Methods: A total of 21 orthosurgical patients were selected to compare the scores obtained in OHIP-14.
Introduction: This paper reviews the history of women scientists in the 'Western world', whilst highlighting the persistent socio-structural issues that have led to the hiding and masking of the participation of women in Science. Further, a reflection is made of the situation of Dentistry, specifically in the field of Orthodontics in Brazil. Design: Occlusion and facial features of five semi-isolated Amazon indigenous populations (n=351) were evaluated and compared to previously published data from urban Amazon people.
In indigenous populations, age can be estimated based on family structure and physical examination. However, the accuracy of such methods is questionable. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to evaluate occlusal tooth wear related to estimated age in the remote indigenous populations of the Xingu River, Amazon.

Methods: Sixty bovine lower incisors were used. Three ceramic brackets (Allure®, InVu®, and Clarity®) and one metallic bracket (Geneus®) were bonded with Transbond XT®.

Objective: This research aimed at comparing the qualitative chemical compositions and the surface morphology of fracture regions of eight types of Nickel/Titanium (NiTi) conventional wires, superelastic and heat-activated (GAC, TP, Ormco, Masel, Morelli and Unitek), to the wires with addition of copper (CuNiTi 27ºC and 35ºC, Ormco) after traction test.
Methods: The analyses were performed in a scanning electronic microscope (JEOL, model JSM-5800 LV) with EDS system of microanalysis (energy dispersive spectroscopy).
Results: The results showed that NiTi wires presented Ni and Ti as the main elements of the alloy with minimum differences in their composition.
Introduction: A wide variety of orthodontic wires made of different alloys is available to be used in orthodontic practice and may produce different clinical responses during tooth movement.
Objective: This research evaluated the alignment and leveling of lower dental arches after the use of three types of orthodontic wires.
Methods: A sample of 36 patients was randomly divided into 3 groups: stainless steel, multistranded steel and superelastic nickel-titanium, according to the first leveling arches used.
Objective: This research aimed to compare, through traction tests, eight types of superelastic and heat-activated NiTi archwires, by six trade companies (GAC, TP, Ormco, Masel, Morelli and Unitek) to those with addition of copper (CuNiTi 27°C and 35°C, Ormco).
Methods: The tests were performed in an EMIC mechanical testing machine, model DL10000, capacity of 10 tons, at the Military Institute of Engineering (IME).
Results: The results showed that, generally, heat-activated NiTi archwires presented slighter deactivation loadings in relation to the superelastic ones.
The use of a standardized terminology in the medical sciences is essential for both clinical practice and scientific research. In addition to facilitating communication between professionals, it enhances the reliability of comparisons made between studies from different areas, thereby contributing to a higher level of scientific evidence. Examples of attempts made to standardize the terminology in other areas dedicated to the study of craniofacial morphology can be found in the literature.

Purpose: To evaluate 3-dimensional changes in the position of the condyles, rami, and chin from 1 to 3 years after mandibular advancement surgery.
Materials And Methods: This prospective observational study used pre- and postoperative cone-beam computed tomograms of 27 subjects with skeletal Class II jaw relation and normal or deep overbite. An automatic technique of cranial base superimposition was used to assess positional and bone remodeling changes that were visually displayed and quantified using 3-dimensional color maps.
Objectives: This study analysed the ability of orthodontists and laypeople to discriminate mandibular stepwise advancements.
Materials And Methods: Four pictures (in duplicate) were taken of a male patient with Class II malocclusion and mandibular deficiency with the mandible positioned in habitual maximum intercuspation (HMI) and with stepwise advancements of 2mm, 4mm and 6mm. These images were examined by orthodontists (n=30) and laypeople (n=30).
Objective: To evaluate the role of genetics and tooth wear in the etiology of dental crowding through the analysis of a split indigenous Amazon population.
Materials And Methods: Dental crowding prevalence (n = 117), tooth wear (n = 117), and inbreeding coefficient (n = 288) were compared for both villages. A biometric investigation was performed by dental cast analysis of 55 individuals with no tooth loss.
Background: Studies examining human and nonhuman primates have supported the hypothesis that the recent increase in the occurrence of misalignment of teeth and/or incorrect relation of dental arches, named dental malocclusion, is mainly attributed to the availability of a more processed diet and the reduced need for powerful masticatory action.
