Systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus) is characterized by aberrant activity of the immune system, leading to variable clinical symptoms. Lupus is more prevalent in African American women and women in other ethnic minority groups. Diagnosing, treating, and identifying novel therapies for lupus is challenging because of its genetic and phenotypic heterogeneity.

We present a case of a 7()year-old female with no history of arthritis who developed stroke-like symptoms, seizures, psychosis and compulsive behavior. Serial brain magnetic resonance images (MRI) over four months demonstrated progressive interhemispheric meningeal thickening.
