Apically Extruded Debris in Curved Root Canals Using a New Reciprocating Single-File Shaping System.

Introduction: The present study addresses the influence of 5 different shaping file systems on apical debris extrusion (AED) using 2 different irrigation protocols.

Methods: One hundred fifty mandibular first permanent molars were divided into 2 groups and 10 subgroups. The mesial root canals were shaped using One Reci (MicroMega), WaveOne Gold Primary (Dentsply Sirona, York, PA), and ProTaper Next (Dentsply Sirona) using reciprocating motion and One Curve (MicroMega) and ProTaper Next using continuous rotation.

Microguided endodontics: Accuracy evaluation for access through intraroot fibre-post.

In this work, we intended to assess the reliability of guided endodontic technique to remove a bonded fibre-post when there are artefacts in the cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images caused by composite dental materials. We mounted natural posterior teeth on ten simulated models. Forty fibre-post and composite-core restorations were inserted in the teeth.

Understanding Helpful Nursing Care From the Perspective of Mental Health Inpatients With a Dual Diagnosis: A Qualitative Descriptive Study.

An estimated 30% to 50% of people with a mental illness also have a substance use problem. Referred to as having a dual diagnosis, these patients experience high levels of unmet needs, poor health outcomes, and require specialized care during psychiatric hospitalization. Research on nursing inpatients with a dual diagnosis is limited and patient perceptions of helpful care during hospitalization are unknown.

We described the different patterns of the disease throughout the whole growth period and provided innovative treatment steps. Indeed, early genioplasty and dental implantation before growth completion were performed.

The vitality of the pulp is fundamental to the functional life of the tooth. For this aim, active and living biomaterials are required to avoid the current drastic treatment, which is the removal of all the cellular and molecular content regardless of its regenerative potential. The regeneration of the pulp tissue is the dream of many generations of dental surgeons and will revolutionize clinical practices.

Theory inspired practice for end-of-life cancer care: an exploration of the McGill Model of Nursing.

Nursing theories provide inspiration for practice by describing how to meet needs, enhance wellness, and respond to clients as whole persons. This paper discusses the McGill Model of Nursing with reference to how its ideas can support nursing practice for patients with cancer during the end-of-life phase. We suggest this model provides for a relational approach that is congruent with the philosophy of palliative care.

Elliptical Fourier descriptors for contours in three dimensions: a new tool for morphometrical analysis in biology.

Elliptical Fourier descriptor analysis is a method for the morphometric study of curves. It has been used in the two-dimensional plane for closed contours, but rarely for lines in the three-dimensional space. The method consists of an expansion of a contour as a sum of ellipses.

Subtle Morphological Changes in the Mandible of Tabby Mice Revealed by Micro-CT Imaging and Elliptical Fourier Quantification.

X-linked hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia (XLHED) is a genetic disorder due to a mutation of the EDA gene and is mainly characterized by an impaired formation of hair, teeth and sweat glands, and craniofacial dysmorphologies. Although tooth abnormalities in Tabby (Ta) mutant mice - the murine model of XLHED - have been extensively studied, characterization of the craniofacial complex, and more specifically the mandibular morphology has received less attention. From 3D micro-CT reconstructions of the left mandible, the mandibular outline observed in lateral view, was quantified using 2D elliptical Fourier analysis.

Peer support among inpatients in an adult mental health setting.

Existing literature indicates peer support is beneficial for people with mental illnesses and plays an important role in recovery. While many studies in the mental health field have focused on formalized peer support within the community, none have explored the experience of peer support among hospitalized patients. The purpose of the current study was to explore the perceptions and experiences of naturally occurring peer support among adult mental health inpatients.

Dental agenesis in Kallmann syndrome individuals with FGFR1 mutations.

Background: Kallmann syndrome (KS) is a rare genetic disorder characterised by central hypogonadism with a lack of sense of smell and in some cases renal aplasia, deafness, syndactyly, cleft lip/palate, and dental agenesis. To date, five genes for KS have been identified: KAL1, located on the X chromosome, and FGFR1, PROKR2, PROK2 and FGF8, which are involved in autosomally transmitted forms of KS.

Aim: The study characterised the dental ageneses of individuals with KS associated with mutations in the FGFR1 gene.
