Dietary total antioxidant capacity (TAC), based on the cumulative antioxidant activities of all the antioxidants present in food, has been shown to be inversely associated with risks of chronic diseases. However, dietary TAC has not been validated for its relevance in a healthy young population or for reliability and predictability for antioxidant status. Background: Intravenous unfractionated heparin remains a cornerstone of anticoagulation therapy for patients with acute coronary syndromes, but regulation to a target aPTT is challenging. We assessed unfractionated heparin infusion regulation by bedside, whole-blood aPTT testing and computerized, algorithmic infusion adjustment, and further evaluated the relationship of achieving the target aPTT with clinical outcomes.
