CAD-CAM complete digital dentures: An improved clinical and laboratory workflow.

The purpose of this article was to present a novel clinical workflow for the fabrication of complete dentures using computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) technology. The dental technique consists of 3 clinical steps and 2 laboratory phases that result in the production of 2 CAD-CAM milled complete denture bases with prefabricated teeth. The integration of analog and digital procedures and materials maximizes their benefits in the planning and fabrication of complete dentures, with the goal of improving clinical outcomes.

An in-vitro study on accuracy of modular templates used to fully guide implants in combination with bone reduction for complete arch restorations: Experts versus students.

Objectives: This in-vitro study evaluates the accuracy of modular surgical templates used to fully guide implants in combination with bone reduction, performed by expert and students, for complete arch restorations.

Methods: All the procedures were performed by dental students of the final year and an expert clinician, on twelve edentulous mandible models. A virtual implant planning, simulating a complete arch restoration on six implants were performed.

Effect of Virtual Casts Superimposition Strategies on the Estimation of IOS Accuracy in Complete-Arch Scans.

Objectives: This study aims to assess the impact of three different strategies of best-fit (BF) alignments of virtual casts on the estimation of the accuracy of intraoral scanner (IOS) in complete-arch scans.

Methods: A maxillary typodont, modified with an Implant Scan Body (ISB) in the retroincisive area, was digitized using a desktop scanner (SW Optor Lab) to obtain a reference STL file. The typodont was then scanned 10 times using two IOSs (Trios4, Itero).

Accuracy of a new photometric jaw tracking system in the frontal plane at different recording distances: An in-vitro study.

Objectives: To evaluate the accuracy of a new photometric jaw tracking system (JTS) in recording linear vertical movements in the frontal plane at different distances.

Methods: A mandibular plaster cast of a patient was placed on a simulation machine capable of linear movements along two spatial axes. Cyclops JTS (Itaka) was adapted to the plaster cast, while the head frame was attached to the simulation machine.

Investigation of the precision of a novel jaw tracking system in recording mandibular movements: A preliminary clinical study.

Objectives: This preliminary study aimed to clinically assess the precision of a novel optical jaw tracking system (JTS) in registering mandibular movements (MMs) of protrusion and mediotrusion.

Methods: Twenty healthy participants underwent recordings using Cyclops JTS (Itaka Way Med) for functional MMs of protrusion and laterotrusion by two trained clinicians. Each subject performed five registrations at different times according to a standardized pattern within one-month period.

Postmastectomy dual-plane submuscular-subcutaneous implant-based reconstruction: a series of 100 consecutive patients.

Background: Advances in cancer knowledge and surgical techniques over the last decades have enabled plastic surgeons to use muscle-sparing procedures and more conservative approaches for implant-based reconstructions. In this paper, the authors describe an innovative subpectoral/subcutaneous implant pocket that represents an evolution of the classical submuscular technique and they report on the first consecutive hundred patients undergoing this procedure.

Methods: Between April 2019 and May 2022, 100 consecutive patients underwent immediate postmastectomy implant-based reconstruction using the subpectoral/subcutaneous space, for a total of 122 procedures.

INFLUENCE OF THICKNESS AND THERMOCYCLING ON TENSILE STRENGTH OF TWO RESIN-BASED CEMENTS USED FOR OVERDENTURES BAR-TYPE ATTACHMENTS: AN IN VITRO STUDY.

Purpose: To evaluate the tensile strength of five different thicknesses of two resin cements placed between two titanium surfaces, before and after aging.

Materials And Methods: One hundred grade-5 titanium models were used, each composed of two surfaces simulating a semiprecision attachment for overdenture and its housing in the framework. Samples were cemented using two different resin cements (SoloCem and OT-Cem).

Rehabilitation with implant-supported overdentures in preteens patients with ectodermal dysplasia: A cohort study.

Introduction: Hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia (HED) patients suffering of oligo-anodontia require early dental treatment to improve oral functions and reduce social impairment. Preliminary clinical study of the accuracy of a digital axiographic recording system for the assessment of sagittal condylar inclination.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to clinically evaluate the accuracy of a digital axiographic recording system in tracing the sagittal condylar inclination.

Methods: An axiographic examination that records the sagittal condylar path during protrusive/retrusive movement was performed on ten patients. Each subject was registered five different times by two different systems: 1) the Cadiax Gamma Diagnostic 4 computerized system as the control; 2) the Zebris Jaw Motion Analyser+  Optic System as the tested digital axiographic recording system.

Comparison of the accuracy between full-arch digital scans and scannable impression materials: an in vitro study.

Background: In some clinical cases, full-arch impression could be difficult to take correctly with the digital way. Patients with high flow salivary rate or with difficulties in mouth opening can still benefit from a conventional impression with elastomer materials that can be directly or indirectly digitized. The aim of this study was to compare the accuracy and precision of two different intraoral scanners (IOSs) and an impression material with scannable properties, by means of three-dimensional analysis of a complete dental arch.

Reconstruction of the Axillary Region after Excision of Hidradenitis Suppurativa: A Systematic Review.

 Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic, debilitating, recurrent, auto-inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous units of the skin. The axillary region is the most affected anatomical site and its reconstructive options include skin grafts, local random plasties, regional axial flaps, and regional perforator flaps. The main aim of this systematic review is to identify the best surgical technique for axillary reconstruction in the context of HS, in terms of efficacy and safety.

Melanocytic Lesions with Peripheral Globules: Proposal of an Integrated Management Algorithm.

Introduction: A peripheral rim of globules represents a marker of the horizontal growth phase in nevi and is a common feature in children and adolescents. The observation of melanocytic lesions with peripheral globules (MLPGs) in adulthood deserves more attention, since melanoma may exhibit this feature, albeit rarely. Evaluation of Load Distribution in a Mandibular Model with Four Implants Depending on the Number of Prosthetic Screws Used for OT-Bridge System: A Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

In full-arch implant rehabilitations, when the anterior screw abutment channel compromises the aesthetic of the patient, the OT-Bridge system used with its Seeger rings may provide the necessary retention of the prosthesis. However, no studies have evaluated the forces generated at the Seeger level during loading. This Finite Element Analysis aims to investigate the mechanical behavior of Seeger rings in a mandibular model with four implants and an OT-Bridge system, used without one or two anterior prosthetic screws.

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) and vertebral fractures at the lumbar spine lead to an overestimation of bone mineral density (BMD). Recently, a new approach for osteoporosis diagnosis, defined as radiofrequency echographic multi-spectrometry (REMS), represents an innovative diagnostic tool that seems to be able to investigate bone quality and provide an estimation of fracture risk independent of BMD. The aim of this paper was to evaluate whether the use of REMS technology can favor the diagnosis of osteoporosis in subjects with an apparent increase in BMD.

Assessment of Preload Loss after Cyclic Loading in the OT Bridge System in an "All-on-Four" Rehabilitation Model in the Absence of One and Two Prosthesis Screws.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the stability of prosthetic screws after applying cyclic loadings in an "all-on-four" rehabilitation model with the OT Bridge system. A Review of Existing Therapies for Actinic Keratosis: Current Status and Future Directions.

Actinic keratosis (AK) is a chronic skin disease in which clinical and subclinical cutaneous lesions coexist on sun-exposed areas such as the head and neck region and the extremities. The high prevalence of AK means the disease burden is substantial, especially in middle-aged and elderly populations. Evidence indicates that AK may progress into invasive cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, so the European guidelines recommend treatment of any AK regardless of clinical severity.
