We engineered a hybrid transposase including the chromodomain (CD) of the heterochromatin protein-1α (HP-1α), which is involved in heterochromatin assembly and maintenance through its binding to trimethylation of the lysine 9 on histone 3 (H3K9me3), and developed a single-cell method, single-cell genome and epigenome by transposases sequencing (scGET-seq), that, unlike single-cell assay for transposase-accessible chromatin with sequencing (scATAC-seq), comprehensively probes both open and closed chromatin and concomitantly records the underlying genomic sequences. Notably, females tend to be more sensitive to drug-prime; often displaying more reinstatement behavior when compared to males. Background: No strong recommendation was reported in management analgesia and sedation of critically ill children. The present study was performed to describe the current practice of analgesia and sedation in Pediatric Italian Intensive Care Units, in order to evaluate the adherence to last published pediatric guidelines.
Methods: A questionnaire was sent to 24 Italian Paediatric Intensive Care Units during 2010.
Pain management should be warranted for all children in every situation. Italian legislation proposes a model for pain assistance based on specialized tertiary centers which provide direct clinical management for complex cases and assure continuous cooperation with hospitals and family pediatricians for managing painful conditions every day. The Procedural Pain Service of the University of Padua Department of Pediatrics applies such model for procedural pain management.

Bronchiolitis is the most common lower respiratory tract infection in infants < 2 years of age; in the last decades both incidence and hospitalization rate had increased, thus increasing sanitary burden. View Article and Find Full Text PDFThis study addressed two questions: 1) whether a relatively low dose of n-3 fatty acid ethyl esters (n-3 FAs) administered to healthy volunteers for a prolonged period of time would exert beneficial effects on plasma lipids, platelet function, and thromboxane biosynthesis; and 2) whether a short-term loading treatment (6 wk) with 6 g n-3 FAs/d followed by 12 wk with 3 g/d results in more pronounced effects. After 6 wk treatment a reduction of plasma triglyceride concentration and an accumulation of EPA and DHA in plasma were observed. A longer period of treatment with n-3 FAs was necessary to affect platelet aggregation and thromboxane A2 biosynthesis.
