A multicenter randomized controlled clinical trial, which was carried out in 10 hospitals in the Federal Republic of Germany between 1979 and 1983, studied the influence of i.v. immunoglobulin G on the mortality in patients with diffuse acute fibrinopurulent peritonitis.

If the tumor invades surrounding tissues of the compartment one should perform a limited radical resection followed by an aggressive postoperative radiation therapy and possibly by an adjuvant chemotherapy, too. But amputation is necessary in cases of sarcomas involving major bones, joints or major nerves.

Pathologic mucosal alterations, metabolic disorders, pharmacological agents etc. clearly affect the regenerative processes of the gastrointestinal epithelium.

Macroscopical or microscopical changes of the gastric or intestinal mucosa could not be observed.

Total lethality is 29%; this is dependent on quick diagnostic procedure, the number and severity of accompanying traumas, and the type of liver rupture. The main diagnostic feature seems to be peritoneal lavage, Operative procedure depends on the type and severity of the liver rupture.

It was the aim of the present study to get information about the effect of uremia on the growth and the proliferation kinetics of a solid tumor (mammary carcinoma HB).

In Zollinger-Ellison patients the gastric mucosa is characterized histologically by hyperplasia both of the glands and the gastric pits. The fundic gastric mucosa is thickened with a marked increase of the specific glandular cells. In-vitro autoradiographic examination shows a significant increase in proliferation of the stomach epithelial cells in three patients with hypergastrinaemia.
