Importance of different topographic, biometric, and retinal parameters for calculating IOL power.

The objective is to evaluate the parameters significantly related to calculating the power of the implanted lens and to determine the importance of different biometric, retina, and corneal aberrations variables. A retrospective cross-sectional observational study used a database of 422 patients who underwent cataract surgery at the Oftalvist Center in Almeria between January 2021 and December 2022. A random forest based on machine learning techniques was proposed to classify the importance of preoperative variables for calculating IOL power.

Neuropsychiatric symptoms of patients two years after experiencing severe COVID-19: A mixed observational study.

Background: The impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection (COVID-19) on mental health has not been extensively studied in the medium and long term. This study assessed how clinical, biological, and social factors affect mental health in patients who recovered from severe COVID-19. The evaluation was done 90 days after hospital discharge and followed up at 12 and 24 months.

Assessment of the Retinal Ganglion Cell Layer after Uncomplicated Cataract Surgery.

(1) This research aimed to evaluate the changes in ganglion cell layer thickness (GCLT) after uncomplicated cataract surgery in patients without previous ocular pathology and the impact of the appearance of cystoid macular edema on the GCLT and visual acuity. (2) The evaluation of 174 patients was performed with the indication of uncomplicated cataract surgery. The variables analyzed were demographic data, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), cataract type and OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) measurements of central macular thickness (CMT), and the presence of cysts and GCLT preoperatively and one day, one and three months after surgery.

Sepsis mortality prediction with Machine Learning Tecniques.

Object: One of the critical steps for the success of intraventricular neuroendoscopic procedures is the entry into the third ventricle and passage of the endoscopy system through the foramen of Monro (FM). A diameter larger than that of the instrument used is considered a prerequisite for safely performing the technique, as damage to this structure can lead to alterations in the fornix and vascular structures. When the foramen diameter is narrow and there is no obstruction/stenosis, the role of foraminoplasty in reducing the risk of complications has not been adequately assessed in the literature.

Comparison of Easy-to-Use Bronchiolitis Scores in the Post-COVID-19 Era-An Observational Study.

In the post-restrictions COVID-19 period, the incidence of bronchiolitis in infants has increased considerably. Several scores determine the degree of severity of the bronchiolitis episode, but few are clinician-friendly. The main aim of this research was to find the easy-to-use score that most accurately estimated the severity of patients' infections according to their clinical situations and most accurately predicted the need for hospital admission.

Single vs. Multiphase Computed Tomography angiography in acute internal carotid artery occlusion: An accuracy and interobserver agreement study.

Objective: Accurate differentiation between the intracranial and extracranial location of the acute internal carotid artery (ICA) occlusion is essential for guiding treatment decisions and mechanical thrombectomy planning. Multiphase Computed Tomography angiography (mCTA) appears to be superior to Single-phase Computed Tomography angiography (sCTA) in the evaluation of acute ICA occlusions. The main objective of our research is to study the accuracy of mCTA compared to sCTA in distinguishing isolated acute intracranial ICA occlusion from extracranial or tandem occlusion.

Accuracy of Computed Tomography Angiography for Diagnosing Extracranial Mural Lesions in Patients with Acute Internal Carotid Artery Occlusion: Correlation with Digital Subtraction Angiography.

Extracranial carotid mural lesions (CML), caused by atherosclerosis or dissection, are frequently observed in acute internal carotid artery (ICA) occlusion, often requiring angioplasty or stenting. This study aimed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of computed tomography angiography (CTA) in differentiating extracranial CML from thromboembolic etiology in acute ICA occlusion in patients eligible for endovascular treatment. Two neuroradiologists retrospectively studied patients with apparent extracranial ICA occlusion on CTA.

The SRK/T, Hoffer Q, Haigis, and Holladay I formulas were extracted from the IOLMaster 500 biometer.

Quality of Sexuality during Pregnancy, We Must Do Something-Survey Study.

Background: The main aim of this study was to describe the changes in sexual desire in pregnant women during the gestation period. We also sought to analyze their sexual habits, how they perceive their partners' attitudes, and determine if they know the importance of sex education during pregnancy.

Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive observational study was conducted using an existing 32-item questionnaire among pregnant women attending the Fetal Welfare Clinic of a reference hospital.
