Understanding racism as an integral part of Brazilian reality, constituting a social determinant of the health-disease process, this article seeks to reflect on the impacts of racism on subjectivity and contemplate the health care offered to black women. The reflections derive from a qualitative study using the biographical method, in which black women provided a narrative of their lives and experiences with racism. The narratives give visibility to the negative effects of living systematically under structural racism in the self-images of the interviewed women, as well as the lack of and/or poor effectiveness of public policies of integral health care to transform the status quo.

Barotrauma is a major cause of injury and mortality of fish as they pass through hydropower turbines. Current understanding of hydropower related barotrauma is biased towards northern temperate and southern subtropical species with single chambered swim bladders, specifically North American and Australian species, respectively. Today, unprecedented hydropower development is taking place in Neotropical regions where many species have complex multi-chambered swim bladder architecture.

Spathaspora passalidarum is a xylose-fermenting microorganism promising for the fermentation of lignocellulosic hydrolysates. This yeast is more sensitive to ethanol than Saccharomyces cerevisiae for unclear reasons. An RNA-seq experiment was performed to identify transcriptional changes in S.

Stereodefined cyclopropyl ketones have become readily available and would be an ideal source of 3-carbon fragments, but general approaches to net C-C activation / difunctionalization are unknown. Herein we demonstrate the cross-coupling of cyclopropyl ketones with organozinc reagents and chlorotrimethylsilane to form 1,3-difunctionalized, ring-opened products.

In addition to a sanitary crisis, Brazil still had to face major political, economic, and social challenges. This study aimed to investigate mental health outcomes in frontline HCWs in different regions of the country and at different epidemic times.

Introduction: Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) can cure patients with high-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). However, many patients relapse or develop debilitating graft-versus-host disease. Transplant restores T-cell reactivity against tumor cells, implicating patient human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-dependent antigen presentation via the major histocompatibility complex as a determinant of response.

Its development and growth have been profusely studied in model organisms, but in spite of the economic impact of olive trees, little is known regarding the genome-wide events underlying pollen hydration and growth in this species. To fill this gap, triplicate mRNA samples at 0, 1, 3, and 6 h of in vitro germination of olive cultivar Picual pollen were analysed by RNA-seq.

The objective of the study focused on analyzing the antimicrobial susceptibility, resistance genes, virulence factors, and biofilm formation ability of thirty-two isolates of isolates were characterized by the following analyses: susceptibility to 12 antimicrobial agents, the presence of resistance genes and virulence factors in PCR assays, and the quantification of biofilm production as evaluated by two distinct assays.

The search is performed with proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV collected by the CMS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb^{-1}. Novel charm jet identification and analysis methods using machine learning techniques are employed.

The multiplicity of jets with that are produced in association with a high- dijet system is measured in various ranges of the of the jet with the highest transverse momentum and as a function of the azimuthal angle difference between the two highest jets in the dijet system. The differential production cross sections are measured as a function of the transverse momenta of the four highest jets.

Objective: Compared with the adult population, fewer clinical studies have investigated the efficacy of FP/SAL in paediatric patients with moderate and moderate-to-severe asthma. In this review, we synthesise the available evidence for the efficacy and safety of FP/SAL in the paediatric population, compared with other available therapies indicated for asthma in children.
Objective: New York City's automated mortality syndromic surveillance system monitors temporal and spatial patterns in mortality. To describe the use of the syndromic surveillance system, we used the system to find mortality patterns for the 15 leading causes of death and for deaths from rare and reportable diseases in New York City from February 2015 through June 2020. We used results to find aberrations that indicate threats to public health.

This analysis is essential to subsidize more equitable policies for the medical workforce in the states and regions of Brazil. Thus, this study aimed to analyze the temporal trend and identify spatial clusters of medical education indicators in Brazil disaggregated by public and private education, states, and regions.

Such a structure can be studied using high-energy photons produced in ultraperipheral heavy-ion collisions. The first measurement of the azimuthal angular correlations of exclusively produced events with two jets in photon-lead interactions at large momentum transfer is presented, a process that is considered to be sensitive to the underlying nuclear gluon polarization.

Introduction: Management of traumatic brain injury (TBI) has to counterbalance prevention of secondary brain injury without systemic complications, namely lung injury. The potential risk of developing acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) leads to therapeutic decisions such as fluid balance restriction, high PEEP and other lung protective measures, that may conflict with neurologic outcome. In fact, low cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) may induce secondary ischemic injury and mortality, but disproportionate high CPP may also increase morbidity and worse lung compliance and hypoxia with the risk of developing ARDS and fatal outcome.
