Background: Children's social-emotional development and mental well-being are critical to adult mental health. However, little is known about the mechanisms or factors that contribute to poor child mental health in low- and middle-income countries. Given the lack of child mental health research to guide interventions or social-emotional learning programs and policy planning, the present study aimed to address these knowledge gaps by examining the psychopathology mechanism involved in the development of childhood mental health problems.

A Comparative Evaluation of Presurgical Infant Orthopaedics of Modified Grayson's Technique With Rhinoplasty Appliance System in Patients With Unilateral Cleft Lip and Palate.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of presurgical infant orthopaedics using the Modified Grayson technique and Rhinoplasty Appliance System on the maxillary alveolus and nasolabial region in infants with unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP).

Materials And Methods: This prospective study looked at 26 patients with a mean age of 6.3 ± 1.

Oral decitabine/cedazuridine versus intravenous decitabine for acute myeloid leukaemia: A randomised, crossover, registration, pharmacokinetics study.

This study compared decitabine exposure when administered IV (DEC-IV) at a dose of 20 mg/m for 5-days with orally administered decitabine with cedazuridine (DEC-C), as well as the clinical efficacy and safety of DEC-C in patients with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) who were ineligible for intensive induction chemotherapy. In all, 89 patients were randomised 1:1 to DEC-IV or oral DEC-C (days 1-5 in a 28-day treatment cycle), followed by 5 days of the other formulation in the next treatment cycle. All patients received oral DEC-C for subsequent treatment cycles until treatment discontinuation.

Novel Initiative Increasing GDMT Use Among Patients With Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction.

Guideline-directed medical therapy utilization in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) remains low despite benefits in morbidity and mortality. The authors describe a unique quality improvement initiative designed to increase angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist (MRA) utilization in outpatients with HFrEF in a large cardiology practice, whereby eligible patients were identified in a standardized review process and medication utilization rates were linked to group quality metrics. Eligible HFrEF patients were defined as having a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) ≤40% and NYHA functional class II to IV level of symptoms.

Introduction: Previous studies have detected mitochondrial alterations in tissues of individuals with obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Metabolic surgery could be an effective treatment to improve mitochondrial morphology and reduce oxidative stress (OS).

Methods: An experimental study was carried out using 48 male Wistar rats, divided into 6 groups (n = 8): control (C), induced Metabolic Syndrome (MS); intervention with sleeve gastrectomy (SG), MS + SG with 6 weeks postoperatively (MS + SG6), MS + SG with 12 weeks postoperatively (MS + SG12), and MS + SG with 24 weeks postoperatively (MS + SG24).

Understanding Domestic Violence Among Older Women in Ukraine: A Secondary Analysis Using Gender-Based Violence Screening Data.

This secondary descriptive analysis sought to understand Gender-Based Violence (GBV), with a focus on Domestic Violence (DV), among older women in Ukraine's conflict setting. Analysis was conducted on a subsample of 150 women aged 60+ from GBV-Information Management System intake data of 12,480 GBV survivors. Fisher's exact tests were used to compare differences in GBV incidents among women who experienced DV compared to other types of GBV.

Contextual Determinants of Time to Surgery for Patients With Hip Fracture.

Importance: Surgery within 24 hours after a hip fracture improves patient morbidity and mortality, which has led some hospitals to launch quality improvement programs (eg, targeted resource management, documented protocols) to address delays. However, these programs have had mixed results in terms of decreased time to surgery (TTS), identifying an opportunity to improve the effectiveness of interventions.

Background: Prior studies have demonstrated that industry payments affect physician prescribing patterns, but their effect on orthopaedic surgical costs is unknown. This study examines the relationship between industry payments and the total costs of primary total joint arthroplasty, as well as operating room cost, length of stay, 30-day mortality, and 30-day readmission.

Methods: Open Payments data were matched across a 20% sample of Medicare-insured patients undergoing primary elective total hip arthroplasty (THA) (n = 130,872) performed by 7,539 surgeons or primary elective total knee arthroplasty (TKA) (n = 230,856) performed by 8,977 surgeons from 2013 to 2015.

Lysine-Derived Charge-Altering Releasable Transporters: Targeted Delivery of mRNA and siRNA to the Lungs.

Targeted delivery of nucleic acid therapeutics to the lungs could transform treatment options for pulmonary disease. We have previously developed oligomeric charge-altering releasable transporters (CARTs) for in vivo mRNA transfection and demonstrated their efficacy for use in mRNA-based cancer vaccination and local immunomodulatory therapies against murine tumors. While our previously reported glycine-based CART-mRNA complexes (mRNA) show selective protein expression in the spleen (mouse, >99%), here, we report a new lysine-derived CART-mRNA complex mRNA that, without additives or targeting ligands, shows selective protein expression in the lungs (mouse, >90%) following systemic IV administration.

Impact of trisomy 19 on outcome according to genetic makeup in patients with acute myeloid leukemia.

We retrospectively studied 97 acute myeloid leukemia patients with trisomy 19 (median age at diagnosis 57 years; range, 17- 83 years) treated between 2001 and 2019 within two multicenter study groups. Trisomy 19 occurred alone in ten (10.5%) patients, with additional abnormalities being present in non-complex karyotypes in eight (8%) patients and in complex karyotypes in 79 (82%) patients.

Introduction: Despite a growing interest in lung MRI, its broader use in a clinical setting remains challenging. Several factors limit the image quality of lung MRI, such as the extremely short T2 and T2* relaxation times of the lung parenchyma and cardiac and breathing motion. Zero Echo Time (ZTE) sequences are sensitive to short T2 and T2* species paving the way to improved "CT-like" MR images.

Mechanism-Guided Design of Robust Palladium Catalysts for Selective Aerobic Oxidation of Polyols.

The palladium complex [()Pd(μ-OAc)][OTf] ( = neocuproine) is a selective catalyst for the aerobic oxidation of vicinal polyols to α-hydroxyketones, but competitive oxidation of the ligand methyl groups limits the turnover number and necessitates high Pd loadings. Replacement of the neocuproine ligand with 2,2'-biquinoline ligands was investigated as a strategy to improve catalyst performance and explore the relationship between ligand structure and reactivity. Evaluation of [()Pd(μ-OAc)][OTf] ( = 2,2'-biquinoline) as a catalyst for aerobic alcohol oxidation revealed a threefold enhancement in turnover number relative to the neocuproine congener, but a much slower rate.

Exploratory qualitative study examining acceptability of strategies to improve access to substance use treatment and HIV prevention services for young adults on probation in Ukraine.

Objective: Adults <30 years' of age experience elevated HIV-rates in Ukraine. Young adults (YA) involved in the criminal justice system (CJS) are at an increased HIV-risk given elevated rates of substance use, engagement in high-risk sexual behaviour and insufficient healthcare access. The objective of this exploratory study was to investigate the acceptability of strategies to refer and link CJS-involved YA to HIV-prevention and substance use treatment services from CJS settings.

The Efficacy of Antegrade Homodigital Neurovascular Island Flaps in Distal Fingertip Reconstruction: A Systematic Literature Review.

Background: Antegrade homodigital neurovascular island flaps (AHIFs) are a heterogeneous group of pedicled flaps used for reconstruction of traumatic digital detipping injuries. While numerous single-center studies have documented their use, there are no large or multicentre studies validating their efficacy, applicability, and functional outcomes. We performed a systematic review of the contemporary literature to establish the safety and functional outcomes of this technique.

Background: Despite the irruption of massive sequencing technologies in clinical routine, the genetic diagnosis of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) continues to be based on traditional techniques. The integration of old and new technologies with diagnostic and prognostic purposes represents a major challenge.

Methods: A High-Throughput Sequencing (HTS) approach was applied to analyze the genetic landscape of two patients diagnosed with T-ALL and one early T cell precursor acute leukemia.

Testosterone and long pulse width stimulation (TLPS) for denervated muscles after spinal cord injury: a study protocol of randomised clinical trial.

Introduction: Long pulse width stimulation (LPWS; 120-150 ms) has the potential to stimulate denervated muscles and to restore muscle size in denervated people with spinal cord injury (SCI). We will determine if testosterone treatment (TT)+LPWS would increase skeletal muscle size, leg lean mass and improve overall metabolic health in persons with SCI with denervation. We hypothesise that the 1-year TT+LPWS will upregulate protein synthesis pathways, downregulate protein degradation pathways and increase overall mitochondrial health.

Gemtuzumab ozogamicin (GO) is a conjugate of a monoclonal antibody and calicheamicin, which has been reapproved for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). AML patients with the rs12459419 CC genotype might benefit from the addition of GO to intensive treatment in contrast to patients with CT/TT genotypes. Nevertheless, contradictory results have been reported.

Fingolimod-Conjugated Charge-Altering Releasable Transporters Efficiently and Specifically Deliver mRNA to Lymphocytes In Vivo and In Vitro.

Charge-altering releasable transporters (CARTs) are a class of oligonucleotide delivery vehicles shown to be effective for delivery of messenger RNA (mRNA) both in vitro and in vivo. Here, we exploited the chemical versatility of the CART synthesis to generate CARTs containing the small-molecule drug fingolimod (FTY720) as a strategy to increase mRNA delivery and expression in lymphocytes through a specific ligand-receptor interaction. Fingolimod is an FDA-approved small-molecule drug that, upon in vivo phosphorylation, binds to the sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 1 (S1P1), which is highly expressed on lymphocytes.
