Phage biocontrol in water treatment and reuse systems: a nascent field with significant innovation opportunities.

While the use of phages in the food and biomedical sectors occurs commercially, their application in the water sector is less common and is typically demonstrated at a lower technological readiness level. This is so despite the potential that phages have to enhance the control of problematic bacteria (including pathogens) and protect infrastructure within the water sector. Fulfilling the great potential of this nascent field requires more research and development.

Multimorbidity patterns, sociodemographic characteristics, and mortality: Data science insights from low-resource settings.

Multimorbidity data is typically analysed by tallying disease counts, which overlooks nuanced relationships among conditions. We identified clusters of multimorbidity and subpopulations with varying risks and examined their association with all-cause mortality using a data-driven approach. We analysed 8-year follow-up data of people ≥35 years who were part of the CRONICAS Cohort Study, a multisite cohort from Peru.

Two hundred thirty heterosexual couples (total n = 460) participated in a dyadic design study. Both partners answered a questionnaire about online violence, hostile sexism, and anxious attachment.

Language discordance among health care providers and patients has been shown to result in poor patient outcomes. Health care providers who identify as being proficient in the native language of their patients may decline the use of professional interpreters due to their self assessment of language proficiency. More information is needed about whether providers who speak Spanish are proficient in medical Spanish.

To ensure effective administration of probiotics in clinical practice, it is crucial to comprehend the specific strains and their association with human health. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the scientific evidence on the impact of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum probiotic consumption on human health. Out of 11,831 records, 135 studies were assessed qualitatively, and 18 studies were included in the meta-analysis.
