Wandering Liver: A Case Report With Clinical and Radiological Insights.

Wandering liver (WL) is an exceptionally rare anatomical variant, scarcely described in the medical literature. This condition is characterized by hypermobility of the liver within the abdominal cavity, resulting from the weakening, laxity, or absence of the liver's suspensory ligaments. This case report describes a 28-year-old male patient with a history of Sashi-Pena syndrome who presented with chronic, nonspecific abdominal pain, in which cross-sectional imaging incidentally revealed WL.

Impact of Surgical Team Involvement at the Time of Trauma Activation for Pediatric Patients With Motorized Cycle or All-Terrain Vehicle Injury Mechanism.

Objectives: At our institution, level 2 trauma (L2T) activations are primarily managed by pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) physicians, whereas level 1 activations are co-managed by pediatric surgery and PEM. Starting in September 2019, the response to L2T activations due to all-terrain vehicles or motorized cycles (ATVs/MCs) changed to include surgical assessment upon patient arrival due to increased likelihood of significant injuries and need for higher level of care. The impact of PEM/surgery co-management of ATV/MC L2T patients on time to an admission decision is unknown.

To gain insight into their electronic structure and reactivity to ionizing radiation, we trapped bare gas-phase -butyltin-oxo cage dications [(BuSn)O(OH)] in an ion trap and investigated their fragmentation upon soft X-ray photoabsorption by means of mass spectrometry. In complementary experiments, the tin-oxo cages with hydroxide and trifluoroacetate counter-anions were cast in thin films and studied using X-ray transmission spectroscopy.

Characterizing Delirium and Associated Risk Factors Using the Cornell Assessment of Pediatric Delirium Score in Pediatric Burn Patients.

Delirium is a syndrome of acute brain dysfunction with disturbance in consciousness and cognition that is increasingly recognized in critically ill pediatric patients. The Cornell Assessment of Pediatric Delirium (CAPD) tool is used to detect delirium in children of all ages and developmental stages in various hospital settings. To date, the incidence of delirium in the pediatric burn population has been poorly defined.

Background: Expanding access to opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment, including methadone, is imperative to address the US overdose crisis. In June 2021, the Drug Enforcement Administration announced new regulations allowing all opioid treatment programs (OTPs) to deploy mobile medication units, or methadone vans, to dispense OUD medication treatment outside of clinic walls, ending a 13-year moratorium. Background: Clinicians' bias related to patients' race and substance use history play a role in pain management. However, patients' or clinicians' understandings about discriminatory practices and the structural factors that contribute to and exacerbate these practices are underexamined. We report on perceptions of discrimination from the perspectives of patients with chronic non-cancer pain (CNCP) and a history of substance use and their clinicians within the structural landscape of reductions in opioid prescribing in the United States.

Saving lives in our homes: Qualitative evaluation of a tenant overdose response program in supportive, single-room occupancy (SRO) housing.

Background: People using opioids alone in private settings are at elevated risk of dying in the event of an overdose. In San Francisco, single room occupancy (SRO) tenants are 19 times more likely to die of overdose than non-SRO residents. The "SRO Project" pilot aimed to reduce fatal overdoses in SROs by recruiting and training tenants to distribute naloxone and provide overdose education in their buildings.

Coagulative nucleation in the copolymerization of methyl methacrylate-butyl acrylate (MMA-BA) via semicontinuous emulsion heterophase polymerization (SEHP) under monomer-starved conditions in latexes with high solid content (50.0 wt %) and low concentrations of surfactant is reported. The SEHP technique allows the obtention of latex with high colloidal stability and has potential industrial application in polymer synthesis.

Background: The SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic increased use of telehealth for the management of opioid use disorder and chronic non-cancer pain in primary care safety net clinical systems. Significant barriers to telehealth exist, little is known about how these barriers impact urban safety net, primary care providers and their patients. The objective of this study was to qualitatively assess the benefits and challenges of telehealth for management of chronic non-cancer pain, opioid use disorder, and multi-morbidity in primary care, safety net clinical systems.
