Mycotoxins can be found in food and feed storage as well as in several kinds of foodstuff and are capable of harming mammals and some of them even in small doses. This study investigated on the undifferentiated neuronal cell line SH-SY5Y the effects of two mycotoxins: patulin (PAT) and citrinin (CTN), which are predominantly produced by fungi species Penicillium and Aspergillus. Here, the individual and combined cytotoxicity of PAT and CTN was investigated using the cytotoxic assay MTT.

Endosseous root-form implants are the most popular type of implant used today. However, patients may present with subperiosteal implants that need treatment with a removable prosthesis. This case report describes the fabrication of a new set of overdentures for 30-year-old subperiosteal implants using the patient's current dentures as a guide to establish a proper vertical dimension of occlusion and occlusal scheme.

Pseudobulbar affect (PBA) is a behavioral syndrome associated with various neurological conditions that typically manifests as uncontrollable laughing or crying. PBA can significantly impact the quality of life of patients affected as these spells can be inappropriate to the social setting or incompatible with the patient's emotional state. The underlying mechanism of PBA appears to be associated with disinhibition in neuronal pathways involving dopamine, serotonin, and glutamate, but the exact mechanism remains unclear.

Two new inorganic-organic polymeric hybrids [Sn(pcp)] and [Cu(pcp)], pcp=CH2(PhPO2)2(2-), have been synthesized and structurally characterized. The tin derivative has been obtained by reaction of the p,p'-diphenylmethylenediphosphinic acid (H2pcp) in water with SnCl2.2H2O, while the copper derivative has been synthesized through a hydrothermal reaction from the same H2pcp acid and Cu(O2CMe)2.
