Introduction: Osimertinib is now a standard first-line (1L) therapy for EGFR-mutated (EGFRm) advanced NSCLC. We aimed to characterize patterns of therapy and longitudinal risk of brain and liver metastasis in a cohort of EGFRm NSCLC.
Methods: Patients with metastatic EGFRm NSCLC who received 1L systemic therapy at sites within the Academic Thoracic Medical Investigator's Consortium were included; demographic and clinical data including treatment patterns were described.

Infections occurring in the mother and neonate exert a substantial health burden worldwide. Optimising infection management is crucial for improving individual outcomes and reducing the incidence of antimicrobial resistance. Digital health technologies, through their accessibility and scalability, hold promise in improving the quality of care across diverse health-care settings.

Methodology: This retrospective cohort study included all patients with abdominal trauma admitted to the Trauma Intensive Care Unit at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital during 2017 and 2018.
Background: Nowhere is optimising healthcare staff retention more important than in primary health care (PHC) settings in remote Australia, where there are unacceptably high rates of staff burnout and turnover. Ensuing consequences for the remote health services and the community are acute - staffing shortfalls in clinics; organisational instability; excessive costs associated with frequent staff recruitment and orientation; diminished access to PHC for patients in need; and lack of continuity of patient care; all of which further entrench poor health outcomes for the community. Optimising remote healthcare staff retention is critical in order to provide high quality and continued PHC.

This retrospective analysis evaluated a multi-institution cohort of patients with EGFRm NSCLC treated in the pre-osimertinib era and sought to describe characteristics of long-term survivors.
Methods: Clinical characteristics and outcomes were abstracted from the electronic medical records of patients with EGFRm metastatic NSCLC who started first-line therapy before 2015.
Objective: To determine the psychometric properties of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-developed depressive symptom screening scale.
Design: Prospective diagnostic accuracy study.
Setting: Ten primary health care services or residential alcohol and other drug rehabilitation services in Australia that predominantly serve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Background: Engagement and partnership with consumers and communities throughout research processes produces high quality research meeting community needs and promoting translation of research into improved policy and practice. Partnership is critical in research involving Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people (First Nations Peoples) to ensure cultural safety. We present lessons from the design, implementation and progress of the National Health and Medical Research Council funded INtravenous iron polymaltose for First Nations Australian patients with high FERRitin levels on hemodialysis (INFERR) clinical trial.

Daily hospitalisation data were extracted for Alice Springs Hospital, Central Australia, 2010-2021. The association between daily mean temperature and daily hospital admissions for total kidney and specific kidney conditions was assessed using a quasi-Poisson Generalized Linear Model combined with a distributed lag non-linear model.

Our aim was to evaluate the impact of a 26-day international cycling competition (Road Worlds Competition for Seniors), incorporating elements of exercise, audiovisual cycling footage, social engagement, and gamification, on the physical, psychological, and social well-being of aged care residents. We aimed to use findings to inform the development of a multi-modal intervention model to maximise wellbeing for older adults.

Purpose: As wellbeing is culturally bound, wellbeing measures for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples must be culturally relevant and grounded in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander values and preferences. We describe the development of a nationally-relevant and culturally grounded wellbeing measure for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults: the What Matters to Adults (WM2A) measure.
Methods: We used a mixed methods approach to measure development, combining Indigenist methodologies and psychometric methods.
Background: The burden of chronic conditions is growing in Australia with people in remote areas experiencing high rates of disease, especially kidney disease. Health care in remote areas of the Northern Territory (NT) is complicated by a mobile population, high staff turnover, poor communication between health services and complex comorbid health conditions requiring multidisciplinary care.
Aim: This paper aims to describe the collaborative process between research, government and non-government health services to develop an integrated clinical decision support system to improve patient care.
Introduction: Acquired gene amplification, exon 14 skip mutations, or fusions can emerge as resistance mechanisms to tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in patients with lung cancer. The efficacy and safety of combining MET TKIs (such as crizotinib, capmatinib, or tepotinib) with parent TKIs to target acquired MET resistance are not well characterized.
Methods: Multi-institutional retrospective chart review identified 83 patients with metastatic oncogene-driven NSCLC that were separated into the following two pairwise matched cohorts: (1) MET cohort (n = 41)-patients with acquired MET resistance continuing their parent TKI with a MET TKI added or (2) Chemotherapy cohort (n = 42)-patients without any actionable resistance continuing their parent TKI with a platinum-pemetrexed added.
Key Points: The inter-rater reliability of reporting hemodialysis catheter-related infectious events between site investigators and trial adjudicators in Australia and New Zealand was substantial. The high concordance level in reporting catheter infections improves confidence in using site-level bacteremia rates as a clinical metric for quality benchmarking and future pragmatic clinical trials. A rigorous adjudication protocol may not be needed if clearly defined criteria to ascertain catheter-associated bacteremia are used.

Probenecid has shown significant potential in enhancing the serum exposure of phenoxymethylpenicillin, thereby allowing for lower doses of phenoxymethylpenicillin to achieve similar pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) targets. We developed a triple quadrupole liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (TQ LC/MS) analysis of, phenoxymethylpenicillin, benzylpenicillin and probenecid using benzylpenicillin-d7 and probenecid-d14 as IS in single low-volumes of human serum, with improved limit of quantification to support therapeutic drug monitoring.
